Mayoral Candidate Forum

Wednesday, October 5, 10 to 11:30 am

LBHC will host its first public Long Beach Mayoral Candidate Forum on Homelessness


Third District Councilwoman Suzie Price and Ninth District Councilmember/Vice Mayor Rex Richardson have committed to participate in this virtual forum.


The forum will stream online via Zoom during our October General Meeting time, and live from the LBHC Facebook page at 

LBHC President Paige Pelonis will moderate the forum. 


Members of the community are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates, for consideration, by Monday, October 3rd. Submit Questions Here.

Unite with women across the country for a national weekend of action to send a message: We demand our rights! Women all around the country are uniting for a fall of reckoning. We will not sit back and accept the attacks on our families, future, and our freedom. 


And since October 8th marks 30 days until Election Day, we’re more fired up than ever to elect more women and pro-choice candidates around the country — we’re ready for the Women’s Wave!

PREPARING FOR THE PROPOSITIONS

October 13, 6 pm, in person and livestreamed

Temple Israel

Please join us for this important program, cosponsored by Temple Israel's Social Action Committee. Speakers from the League of Women Voters will cover what the ballot propositions really contain and who funded each one, so that you are prepared when you vote in the upcoming midterm election.


The program will be both in person at Temple Israel, 269 Loma Ave., Long Beach, 90803, and livestreamed.

LBCC Food Drive

Saturday and Sunday, October 15 & 16

10 am - 2 pm, in front of Alpert JCC

In honor of Sukkot, let’s share our harvest bounty with those less fortunate!  We are collecting packaged food for needy college students who are coming back to school at LBCC.

Requested Donation Food Items (no glass please)

  • Single-serving size of almost anything
  • Canned/packaged protein (tuna, chicken, spam, etc)
  • Beans, rice, pasta, tortillas
  • Pasta sauce, oil, mayo (in plastic please)
  • Canned fruit & veggies (corn)
  • Grab & Go snacks, granola bars, protein bars, nuts


  • Peanut butter, jelly
  • Boxed milk (almond, soy, evaporated, etc)
  • Soup -- cups or canned
  • Baby food, formula
  • Boxed/instant dinners      
  • Mac & cheese, chili, etc.    
  • Oatmeal, cereal                     
  • Crackers, ramen, pancake mix
  • Microwavable meals

October 7-9, in Washington, DC and communities nationwide, with marches planned for Saturday, October 8. More details to come as planning gets underway!

Burrrr! Cold out there! We need warm outer wear, any kind, kids to adults, which will be distributed to various needy organizations in our city. Last year, seniors, kids, homeless and low-income families benefited! Bring ‘em!
