This year, over 130 members applied for an opportunity to serve on our NCL, Inc. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council (DEI) and our Ticktocker Advisory Council (TTAC). Thank you all for your desire to make a difference on both a local and a national level. We are so excited to announce the new teams and to keep you posted about their achievements throughout the year. Spread Our Impact

NCL's National Day of Service

“Everybody can be great because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

Did you know that in 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, designating the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday as a national day of service? And this year, NCL will celebrate MLK Day as our national day of service on January 16, 2023. We announced this exciting news at last year’s annual leadership conference, so we hope you have already marked the date on your calendar! Our DEI Council will lead the effort by providing simple yet powerful ways for you to participate – Ticktockers, Patronesses, and Sustainers. The Council will distribute a toolkit in October, as well as our official MLK Day of Service hashtag, to be shared across all your social media channels. Let’s create a massive impact as we serve together. If you have any immediate questions, please reach out to the chapter support desk.

Our NCL Family is Growing

A big welcome to our Zionsville Chapter, located in Zionsville, IN! As part of our purpose of sharing NCL with more communities and expanding our social impact, we are looking to bring NCL to new areas in which we have already received interest: Jacksonville, Florida; New Albany, OH; Irving, TX; and Danville, CA. If you know others who would enjoy NCL in these areas, please encourage them to fill out the form here

Increase Awareness

We display our unity and impact using specific images, marks and words. Adherence to our brand guidelines empowers the NCL brand and helps make NCL more identifiable. As many chapters begin their membership drives, we encourage you to spread awareness of your chapter and impact in your community by wearing your NCL logowear when volunteering. Don't forget to visit the NCL Marketplace to shop for NCL logowear and branded products.

We Want To Feature You

NCL is looking for interesting, inspiring or touching stories - whether it is your mother/daughter relationship, how you've utilized your skills gained through NCL, or how stepping up to a leadership role within your chapter has enabled you to thrive. Use this form or email media@nclonline.org to share your story!

Sustainer Corner

Book Club - Programming

This month, we were joined by New York Times best selling author, Delia Ephron, as she discussed her novel, Left on 10th: A Second Chance at Life: A Memoir. The bestselling, beloved writer of romantic comedies like You've Got Mail tells her own later-in-life love story, complete with a tragic second act and joyous resolution.

We love our Book Club sessions, where we are able to connect with inspiring authors and other NCL members, as well as embrace the NCL mission and core values.

NCL Sustainers Launch Barkley's Bookshelf!

Barkley’s Bookshelf, a 501©3 organization, was founded in March 2022 by five National Charity League, Inc. Sustainers with the goal of creating personal libraries for children in K-5th grade to support children’s literacy. The mission statement of Barkley’s Bookshelf is: Enriching children’s love of

reading by providing books they can call their own.

We are so proud of our members and to see their love of philanthropy growing beyond NCL.

Sustainer Ticktockers

Three members of the Ticktocker Class of 2022 who all attended different high schools but were in NCL in Dallas, recognized each other on their sorority bid day! This is just one of the many ways NCL helps forge connections, not only within the community but with each other, even after graduation!

Make sure to stay connected after graduation by becoming a Sustainer and keeping your profile up-to-date so other NCL members can connect and support you long after graduation!

If you are interested in becoming a Sustainer and staying connected, please reach out to your local chapter or email susan.merrell@nclonline.org for more information.
