FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.: The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) returns to Florida for its 2024 Winter Meeting, kicking off the gaming conference year. The NCLGS Winter Meeting will take place January 3-6 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina where attendees will visit a warm and popular winter destination before 2024 legislative sessions convene all over the country.
“Florida has had more National Presidents of NCLGS than any other state and has also hosted more NCLGS conferences than any other state,” said Steve Geller, NCLGS Founder and General Counsel, and former Florida Senator and current Broward County Commissioner. “As one of the largest states in the nation, Florida has dealt with most of the issues dealing with gambling law – making Ft. Lauderdale a great place to meet.”
Founded more than a quarter-century ago, NCLGS is the only organization of state lawmakers that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues related to gaming. NCLGS neither promotes nor opposes gaming but is focused on proper regulation and promoting best practices in the governance of this important industry.
The four-day conference will include 12 sessions chaired by legislative leaders from around the country. Included in the program will be opening addresses by distinguished VIPs, a luncheon keynote and two evening networking receptions. NCLGS leadership also will extend attendees the opportunity to enjoy an “Afternoon at the Races” on Friday January 5, hosted by 1/ST Racing and Gulfstream Park. Once again, the Sports Betting Regulators Association (SBRA) will be co-locating at NCLGS. SBRA will host a two-hour session open to all attendees prior to the kick-off reception on January 3.
Dozens of state legislators as well as regulators, gaming operators and suppliers, attorneys, lobbyists, media, and other stakeholders are expected to attend. The meetings help state legislators from across the country establish sound, effective gaming policies. NCLGS attendance continues to grow; the recent Summer Meeting in Denver had an attendance of more than 300 people, with a NCLGS record of more than 100 legislators and regulators.
NCLGS has a block of rooms available at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. Reservations must be made by December 6, 2023, to receive the NCLGS contracted rate. Rooms in the NCLGS block are limited in number and may sell out so book your hotel now.
