President’s Letter: 2023 Annual Meeting Nominations

No doubt you have heard about ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence program that is causing excitement and consternation in fields such as education, technology, and yes- even medicine. This program essentially takes a question and scours the Internet for information and synthesizes it into an easily readable format, and even has the ability to write essay papers based on it. There are some known flaws, such as relying on inaccurate information and biases, but it no doubt will continue to improve.

So in what ways can this impact medicine? One possibility regards patient information - not only provided by the clinician, but by self-directed searching. Read the full president's letter here.

Executive Director: NCMS Book Club Survey

As part of our 2023 Strategic Plan we'd like to continue to provide members with new opportunities to network, learn, and engage. In 2023 we're already planning for our annual events which include the NCMS Annual Meeting, Summer Social, Medical Student Welcome, and Legislative Night.

One of our most recent ideas is to organize a NCMS Book Club. Is this something you'd be interested in joining? If so, please share your contact information by clicking here! We want to know your interest level so we can start meeting in the Spring. We're planning to give an update about Book Club during our Annual Meeting on March 8th and we'll be reaching out to those interested via email. Our President-Elect Dr. Pauzauskie is leading the club so please feel free to reach out to either of us if you have questions.

I'm also open to hearing your other ideas for special interest groups. You can reach me via email at crystal@nocomedsoc.org. You're also welcome to attend a board meeting. Our next meeting is March 29th at 6pm. Be sure to RSVP by emailing me. I'm looking forward to another fabulous year!

Our 2023 Annual Meeting will be on Wednesday, March 8th at 6pm at the Windsong Estate Event Center (2901 Saddler Blvd, Severance, CO 80524). This will be a hybrid meeting. It’s a Casino Night theme with table games from 6pm to 7pm in which you win tickets for the prize drawing. We’ll be giving away prizes including a 2-night stay at a casino in Blackhawk, CO with a spa package*.  Both appetizers and dinner will be served with vegetarian options. You will receive two free drink tickets and we will have a full service cash bar during the event. Registration is open to members and non-members. There's a $40 fee for non-members. Be sure to register ASAP as seats are limited.

We'll be awarding Physician of the Year, 2023 Legacy Scholarship recipients, and electing NCMS officers. For the full agenda, please refer to our website.

Renew your membership in CMS/NCMS today!

All individual members and practices who have opted in to group billing should have received invoices for 2023 membership by mail. The invoices come from the Colorado Medical Society and include NCMS dues, for your convenience, as our organizations are unified. Membership dues in the American Medical Association are optional but encouraged.

Individuals or groups can pay by check by remitting to the address listed on the invoice. Individuals may also pay online on the CMS website using your CMS member number or medical license number. Groups who prefer to pay by credit card can call Mihal Sabar, CMS accounting manager, at 720-739-8358 to remit payment. Questions? Has your information changed?
