NCMS President Update

Dear NCMS Community,

I am pleased to share some exciting updates with you. As you may recall, this year’s focus is to raise awareness of human trafficking and support its victims. We are proud to announce a new and impactful collaboration between the Northern Colorado Medical Society (NCMS), A Courageous Rose, and member Dr. Aaron Hoover. This partnership has led to the establishment of a new nonprofit organization called Jubilee. Jubilee’s mission is to support survivors of human trafficking by helping them remove branding tattoos, empowering them to reclaim their identities and move forward. To support this effort, we will soon be launching a fundraiser to acquire the necessary laser equipment—please stay tuned for more details.

In addition, we are nearing completion of a Continuing Medical Education (CME) course that will provide medical professionals with key strategies for identifying and supporting trafficking victims. This course will soon be available on the NCMS website.

To recap our recent social events, we’ve enjoyed a “Meet and Greet” with medical students, a book club gathering, and a summer social—thank you to those who participated! As always, we encourage you to stay engaged and join us for upcoming social and professional opportunities. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly or contact Crystal Goodman.

Warm regards,

Narina Grove, MD

Congressman Gabe Evans tours UCHealth Hospital in Greeley

Northern Colorado physician leaders Sean Pauzauskie, MD (center), President Narina Grove, MD (right) and the UCHealth staff including President Marilyn Schock hosted a tour at the Greeley hospital with Congressman Gabe Evans. We emphasized the importance of securing a permanent Medicare physician payment fix and extending enhanced premium tax credits to help keep more Coloradans covered.

Member Spotlight: Dr. Sean Pauzauskie is premiering his latest book Stage of Fools at Wolverine Farms in Fort Collins on Sunday, October 26th at 5pm. If you'd like to preorder the book or learn more about the trilogy, here's a link.

Stage of Fools — the centerpiece of the Thomas Mariner Neurotechnology Trilogy; it is a tale told from a San Francisco intensive care unit, by billionaire Steven Levinson, a patient who has fallen into a coma, who must take captive time to reexamine and learn from the suppressed events of his life, so that he might reawaken healed and save the family he has set at the brink of destruction by his jealousy, vanity, and recklessness. If there’s still time for this modern King Lear.
