NCMS Voice | Spring 2025 | e-news from your Northern Colorado Medical Society | | Introducing NCMS President Dr. Narina Grove | | |
Dear NCMS Community,
It is with great pleasure and sincere gratitude that I write to you in my first letter as President of NCMS. Although I have only recently assumed this role, our team has already made significant strides, beginning with the launch of our sex trafficking education initiative and other vital efforts. As many of you are aware, human trafficking—particularly sex trafficking—has become a pervasive issue across the United States. Unfortunately, Northern Colorado has not been immune. While often portrayed as a distant or cinematic issue, sex trafficking is a harsh reality in our own communities and can affect individuals close to us, often without our knowledge. In response, we are developing a CME On-Demand project, expected to launch this July. Our goal is to demystify the operations behind sex trafficking and help both the public and medical professionals recognize the warning signs. This resource will feature instruction from a local law enforcement officer and a survivor of trafficking, making it a powerful and informative tool for practicing physicians. Please stay tuned for updates. I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Aaron Hoover for his initiative and collaboration with A Courageous Rose, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting trafficking survivors. Through this partnership with NCMS, we are working to help survivors remove painful physical reminders of their past—such as tattoos and scars. We welcome and deeply appreciate any support or ideas from our members on how we can further these efforts. Together, we are stronger. Additionally, we have begun discussions with the Poudre School District to explore opportunities for incorporating health and safety education into the school curriculum. While several courses are currently available in high schools, none are mandatory. This is an ongoing conversation with the School Board, and we are hopeful about the possibilities for impactful change. Thank you for your continued support of NCMS and the important work we do together.
Warm regards,
Narina Grove, MD
President, Northern Colorado Medical Society

Dear NCMS Community,
We've been hard at work on many of our 2025 initiatives. During the first quarter we held a CMS/NCMS membership drive, hosted our Annual Meeting "Puttin' on the Ritz," and worked with community organizations on both STEM projects and networking events. Here's a list of some of our most recent projects:
Advocacy: The NCMS Advocacy Committee and the Colorado Medical Society met with U.S. Representative Gabe Evans to discuss Medicaid cuts. He's open to meeting with us at the UC Health Greeley Hospital to speak with physicians about legislation and how it affects both physicians and patients.
STEM Projects: NCMS President Dr. Narina Grove presented to students at CSU and the Poudre High School Career Tech Center about a career in pathology. PSD offers a medical assistant program in which students can experience workplace learning. Dr. Donna Sullivan and Dr. Cory Carroll volunteered to be judges at the annual Colorado Science and Engineering Fair at CSU. This year's winners were Vedanth Raju – A Novel Plant-Based Topical Drug “Curcaza+” to Help Treat Diabetic Foot Ulcers/Infections and Help Reduce Antimicrobial Resistance and Maria Sears – Lung Distance Relationship: A Remote Monitoring Device That Tracks Pulmonary Function. These students received a cash prize provided by the Colorado Medical Society and an invite to attend the CMS Annual Meeting in Keystone September 19th-20th.
Community Outreach: BizWest invited local healthcare CEO's to have a roundtable discussion about emerging healthcare trends and challenges. It was an amazing experience to be part of this discussion (pictured above). To read the full article please visit our website,

Doctors and Diners Retirees Group
The recent retirees' meeting at Silver Grill Cafe was a resounding success, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among our members. During this gathering, we engaged in meaningful discussions focused on enriching and mentoring local students in their career aspirations, emphasizing the importance of self-analysis, workplace placement opportunities, and the impactful Walk with a Doc program. Additionally, we took the time to review current advocacy issues and community outreach initiatives among other important topics. We warmly invite both retirees and active members to participate in these ongoing conversations, as we believe that collaboration and engagement from all members are vital to our mission. Together, we can continue to strengthen our community and nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals.
