NCPMA Celebrates 75th PCT School

A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored or presented at the 75th Pest Control Technician’s (PCT) School at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Conference Center in Durham!

75th PCT School Video

Go Forth Marketing created a video highlighting the history of the PCT School which included interviews with 17 individuals who have been instrumental in the event's success including the current and past PCT Chairs. The video discussed the school's evolution from a small event at North Carolina State University to becoming the second-largest pest management gathering in the country.

We want to say a special thank you to our 75th PCT School Sponsors including our Title Sponsor, Forshaw.

Leadership Development Academy Teams Host Fundraisers at PCT School

Teams from our current Leadership Development Academy hosted fundraisers at the 75th PCT School. See below to find out how you can help.

Safe House Project

The Guardians of Hope Team hosted a fundraising project to benefit the Safe House Project, which is dedicated to ending child trafficking.

Hands United Foundation

The All Hands on Deck Team sold raffle tickets to raise awareness and support for Hands United Foundation, which was created to aid members of the pest control community that may experience a hardship or tragedy during their lives.

The team provided the following information about the organization.

We never knew that there was a resource specifically meant to help members of the pest control community until we began attending the NCPMA Leadership Development Academy. We were tasked with team projects, and our project is to fundraise and raise awareness for Hands United Foundation.

Hands United Foundation was “created to aid members of the pest control community that may experience a hardship or tragedy in their life,” as taken from their website. The founders realized there was a need for such a foundation after experiencing their own challenges and finding out that resources were limited. If you find yourself facing unexpected circumstances you can apply for assistance at handsunited.us. You can also find more information on the foundation there, or donate directly to their cause.

We in the All Hands on Deck team felt it was of great importance to make sure the link to the website was readily available for people like you and me and appreciate the NCPMA for having the link accessible here! We hope you never have to find yourself struggling due to such hardships, but are so happy to share that there is a foundation that can help if you do!

The Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four Team in partnership with The Praying Pelicans and Project Hope are hosting a raffle to generate funds to help those affected by Hurricane Helene. These organizations are boots on the ground helping all they can through various local associations. The Team had a wonderful time at PCT School in Raleigh, meeting with people that attended and everyone interested in our cause. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page (The Fantastic Four Fundraiser For Hope) to donate for more chances to win prizes and the upcoming raffle date. The Leadership Development Academy has been a great help pushing us to our fullest potential and to be able to help others!

Update from NCSU

WolfPest

We are excited to share the newest development out of the Urban Entomology program at NC State University - the new extension app, WolfPest. It puts the resources and experts from NC State University in the palm of your hand. The best part, it's FREE! Head to the link here, and go to browser settings (Android), or the share screen (Apple), and click "Add to homescreen" to install it directly on your phone!

NC State Core & Technical Training Courses

NC State offers a wide variety of for-credit training courses on a quarterly basis to meet the needs of the pest management industry. The offerings are divided into two categories:

  • Core Courses: 1/2 day courses that cover a wide variety of pests (ants, cockroaches, bed bugs, & more), their biology and behavior, and management practice. These courses involve live pests, preserved specimen, and the best tools of the trade! All core courses are approved for 3 CCUs of respective phase credit
  • Technical Courses: 1.5 day courses covering technical aspects of pest management, with the majority of the course being hands-on and practical application focused. We take pest management theory and help put it into practice! Currently we offer a Termite Technical Course (in collaboration with NCDA&CS), but are developing several additional courses to launch this year. The termite technical course is approved for 10 CCUs of W-phase credit.

Registration for Spring 2025 core course has closed, but registration for the Spring 2025 Termite Technical Course (Mar 18-19) is live - register here, or through the WolfPest app while seats are still available!

Summer 2025 Course Dates - Registration opens late March

Summer 2025 Core Courses will be held May 6-8

Summer 2025 Termite Technical Course will be held May 13-14

Summer 2025 Outdoor Technical Course will be held May 15-16

Stay tuned for more details!
