I am Kyle Franklin – and I am the current chair of the Endowment Committee. I have been involved with Pest Control in North Carolina since 2002 in several different roles. My current role is the Manufacturer’s Representative for BASF in North Carolina and Virginia. I have personally benefitted from the expertise of Dr. Mike Waldvogel on several occasions, and I volunteered to be on this committee to do my part to support Urban Entomology Pest Management Extension and Research at NC State.
The Endowment Committee was formed to maintain focus on the North Carolina Pest Management Association Extension Program Endowment. This endowment, named to honor Dr. Mike Waldvogel, supports the ongoing work of NC State, focusing on supporting positions and initiatives that directly contribute to the education of the pest control industry in North Carolina. NCPMA is fully committed to ensuring that funding is always available for our industry. The Endowment Committee was created as a part of this commitment.
NCPMA committed $50,000 to this endowment in 2019 and pledged to raise $400,000 by 2024. Once fully funded, the endowment will safeguard the academic positions that have played such a significant role in furthering the pest management industry in North Carolina.
An initial push in 2019 raised a big portion of the goal, but there’s still a long way to go. The Endowment Committee with the help of the NCPMA Board raised over $3,000 for the Endowment during PCT school this January by collecting donations ranging from $1 - $1,000.
There are 2 primary ways you can support the Endowment and the work of the Endowment Committee:
- Consider making a donation directly to the NCPMA Extension Program Endowment in Honor of Mike Waldvogel. You can do that here – go.ncsu.edu/NCPMAMikeWaldvogel
- Join me on the Endowment Committee
