2019 Spring Workshops

Our 2019 Spring Workshops were held throughout February and March. Thank you to everyone who attended one of the seven workshops held across the state.

NCPMA offers the workshops in cooperation with the North Carolina State University Extension Service and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Participants received two (2) CCUs: 1-P and 1-W phase.

A special thank you to Patty Alder of North Carolina State University for leading each session and sharing her knowledge with our participants!

Update: NCPMA Legislative Reception

Due to shifting legislative calendars, the association is still coordinating the best dates to host the 2019 Legislative Reception with members of the North Carolina General Assembly.

We are hoping to make an announcement shortly on the new day for this event. For questions please contact Andy Architect at  aarchitect@pestworld.org .

NCPMA Leadership Attend NPMA Legislative Day

In February, a delegation of representatives from NCPMA attended the National Pest Management Association Legislative Day in Washington, D.C. Our NCPMA members attended sessions to learn about public policy issues and met with some of the North Carolina Congressional delegation.

Meet the Board: Don Grant
Region One Director

Don Grant of Grant Exterminating in Gastonia currently serves as the Region One Director of NCPMA and has served in this role since 2015.

Having first served on our board of directors for three terms in the 1990s, Don has a long history with NCPMA. He joined the association in 1981 and has served on numerous committees with the association including membership, legislative and public policy.

Like many in the pest management industry, Don grew up in the pest management industry.

"My father was in the pest control business and, just like many pest management professionals in the industry today, I chose to work in the family business," he said. "I enjoy helping people and have found the pest management industry to be very rewarding in many, many ways."

His desire to help others and his community goes deep and led to his involvement in local politics throughout the years. He previously served as a County Commissioner in Gaston County.

Outside of the office, you can find Don enjoying one of his many interests including playing guitar, collecting music, gardening or craft brewing. And although it's gained in popularity in recent years, Don's been a craft brewer for more than 40 years.
