Pest Control Provision Part of Just Enacted NC Budget
North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory last week signed legislation requiring the Structural Pest Control Committee (SPCC) to adopt rules regarding ancillary activities that may be performed in association with the control of wood-destroying organisms or household pests. Under the measure, the rules must specify the categories of ancillary activities that may be exempted from structural pest control licensing requirements or may be performed by unlicensed persons acting under the direct supervision of a structural pest control licensee including the moving of furniture or bedding, and the cleaning, maintenance, or repair of property. The measure, which is part of the Fiscal Year 2015 state budget, further directs the SPCC to post proposed rules on its Web site by August 21st and provide notice of the rules.
