NCPMA Past Presidents' Council Nominates New Board Members

The NCPMA Past Presidents' Council met Nov. 4 at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro.  The Council includes all individuals who have held the position of president with NCPMA.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed board of directors nominations for open positions for the 2016-2017 year.  The nominated individuals will be presented and voted into office at the Pest Control Technician's (PCT) School in January.

Technician of the Year Awards
2016 Technician of the Year Award Program Deadline Extended to November 20th!

The NCPMA Technician of the Year Award is designed to recognize the
Dana McDuffie with the 2014 Technician of the Year Winners.
individual who exemplifies those qualities that best define an outstanding service technician in the pest management industry of North Carolina.

Contest Criteria and Rules:
  • Must be a member of the North Carolina Pest Management Association
  • Must have two years of experience in his/her phase
  • Technician must work at least 80% of the time in the field
  • Must be recommended by company owner, manager or supervisor
  • Two phases from which to choose: Pest Control and WDO
  • Each winner receives a $250 gift card, one free PCT School registration with one night hotel room and a plaque
  • Winners will be recognized during the next PCT School at the Opening Session
Nominate someone you know and recognize the outstanding work they are doing or make a recommendation to the the technician's supervisor, manager or company owner!


Rodent Awareness Week
Nov. 15-21 is Rodent Awareness Week! 

Take this opportunity to educate your customers about rodents and how they can prevent and treat infestation s in their homes.

Prevention is key! Remind customers that installing rodent stations outside of their houses is an easy and effective way to keep rodents from finding their way inside.

Meet the Board
Scott Canady
Past President, NCPMA

Scott Canady of Canady's Services, Inc. in Lumber Bridge is the Immediate Past President of NCPMA. 

Scott has been involved with the NCPMA board of directors for eight years and has served as the Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and President and currently serves as chair of the summer conference committee.  

Pest management is a family affair for the Canady family. His father started Canady's Services, Inc. in 1978, and Scott joined the company after graduating from college in 1995. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and offshore fishing.
Committee Spotlight
Public Policy Committee

The Public Policy Committee s tays in contact with and works with the Structural Pest Control Committee about rule and regulation changes. In addition, it works with the NC Structural Pest Control and Pesticides Division to propose new rule changes and represent the industry with NCPMA's thoughts and opinions. 
 
The committee works closely with the association's lobbyist to stay current on any Law changes from the NC House about laws that would affect out businesses.

The Public Policy Committee is chaired by Burns Blackwell ( pictured top ) of Terminix Triad and Billy Tesh ( pictured bottom ) of Pest Management Systems, Inc.
