A Note of Gratitude
I want to take a moment to recognize the dedicated individuals who make Norwalk Community School District a great place for students. May is both National Teacher Appreciation Week and School Board Appreciation Month, making it the perfect time to show gratitude for the hard work of our teachers, staff, and board members.
Our teachers and staff are the backbone of our schools. Every day, they demonstrate commitment and passion in helping our students learn and grow. Whether in the classroom, on the field, in the lunchroom, or behind the scenes, their impact is felt throughout our district. Their dedication aligns with our mission—Growing Learners and Leaders—by fostering self-awareness, self-direction, strategic thinking, social awareness, and connection in our students. Thank you for the incredible work you do for our students and families.
I also want to take this opportunity to recognize the vital role of our school board members. These individuals volunteer their time and effort to guide our district, ensuring we provide the best education possible. According to the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB), board members play a crucial role in student success, setting the direction for education and maintaining strong community connections. Their leadership helps shape the policies and decisions that keep our schools moving forward.
Our Norwalk CSD Board Members include:
- Justin Fletcher, President
- Brian Rausch, Vice President
- Daniel Doerfler
- Kate Baldwin
- Michelle Kelly
This month, I encourage you to take a moment to thank a teacher, staff member, or school board member. Their dedication and commitment make a real difference in the lives of our students and the strength of our community. I am grateful to work alongside such an incredible team, and I appreciate all they do for Norwalk CSD. Thank you for supporting our schools and helping us grow learners and leaders.
Respectfully,
Shawn Holloway, Superintendent
