News

NCVPS Teacher Update

We want to update you on the recent teacher employment issue that impacted NCVPS.

This week, NCVPS met with various stakeholders including representatives from the Department of Public Instruction, the State Board of Education, the Office of State Human Resources, the legislature, and the Governor’s office, and we identified a solution. We want to assure you that our proposed courses for the 2019-20 year will be staffed as would normally occur based on your instructional needs.

Please continue to enroll students in NCVPS courses as needed.

End of Semester Tips and Reminders

The last day of class is August 9, and final grades will be posted August 15. See our End of Semester Tips and Reminders page for full details on how to successfully close out the semester.

Summer Course Extension

The deadline to submit summer course extension requests is Wednesday, August 14th by 11:59 p.m.

Course Capacity Issues

We do have a number of courses that are reaching capacity for fall. This is not related to last week's employment issue, but is rather our usual difficult-to-staff courses. See our NCVPS Course Capacity page for the short list of courses at or nearing capacity.

Spring Block AP Courses

We've added five AP courses to the spring block Early Start calendar:

AP Statistics
AP Calculus AB
AP Environmental Science
AP European History
AP Psychology

The spring AP block courses will begin on January 6, 2020, and all schools can enroll students into these Early Start AP courses. These courses also have yearlong offerings.

Early Start Begins: August 12

Last Day to Register for Early Start: August 23

Traditional Start: August 26

Last Day to Register for Traditional: Sept. 9

Registration Process

Enroll students through the NCVPS registration system. If you need access, contact our Virtual Support Center.

If you are a new e-learning advisor and NCVPS point-of-contact for your school, please update your contact information in our registration system. Click on the "My Info" tab when you log in to update your information. Please remember that there is only one login per school. If your school already has access, you will need to share the login username and password.

Enrolling into OCS Courses

Enrolling into Intervention Co-Teaching Courses

We have a new Intervention Co-Teaching Program page that gives details on the program and enrollment process. Watch our Intervention Co-Teaching Video to see the enrollment process.

Enrolling into Heath and PE Courses

If you're registering for our Health and PE courses, you'll see the pop-up reminding you about permission forms for those two courses. These forms are for your records that you will keep at your school. You can create your own forms or use ours. See our Heath and PE page for details.

Student Course Access

Students will have access to their courses at 7 a.m. on the first day of classes. Before classes begin, students can go through our Canvas Orientation. We also have Pre-Instruction Resources for each class. These resources help students get a better understanding of courses before classes begin.

Our 2019-2020 Course Catalog is posted online. We have a few courses that are undergoing revisions, and they will not be offered next year.

SAR Data

Schools will access NCVPS SAR data from either an enrollment report or grade report. See our PowerSchool and NCVPS Registration guide for details. Please do not request data directly from teachers. Thank you!

Reminders

NCVPS Open House

NCVPS is hosting its annual Virtual Open House on August 20 and 22. Come to the presentation to learn about who we are, how we teach, how students learn. You'll get an opportunity to meet with teachers, see our online classrooms, and ask questions. Follow this link for registration details.

PowerSchool Update

We performed our End-of-Year (EOY) data sync with PowerSchool. Schools should now see their new rosters in the NCVPS registration system. If you're trying to enroll a student who's not on your roster, open a ticket with our Support Center . Include the student's name, PowerSchool ID number, and your school name. We will add the student to your roster, and then you can enroll that student.

NC Math 1 Honors

We are pleased to announce that we have a new course offering! We will offer NC Math 1 Honors for the first time in the spring of 2020. You can enroll into the course now.

Request for Sections

If your school needs a yearlong or early start section that we do not currently offer, open a ticket with our Virtual Support Center . We will see if we can make it happen!
