NCoBC 2020 Annual Conference
update on the Coronavirus
March 5, 2020

The National Consortium of Breast Centers is closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak and continues to provide regular updates.

As of March 5, 2020, NCoBC is proceeding as scheduled, April 3-8, 2020 in Las Vegas at the brand-new Caesars Forum conference center. NCBC is showing very favorable registration numbers with our pre and post conferences as well as our General 3-day Conference. Today we continue to receive registrations and exhibitor support.

It is important to acknowledge there are conference that are canceling their events, but these are very large conferences with THOUSANDS in attendance. NCoBC is considered a relatively small event made up of medical professionals who are wise in prevention and safety procedures to minimize the already low risk of attending.

Sanitation Measures at the Caesars Venue
  • While the risk remains low at this time, NCoBC will be a handshake-free meeting. We will acknowledge people with the NCoBC great big smile
  • Each NCoBC conference satchel will have a handy hand sanitizer attached to the outside of the bag.
  • Each row of tables/seats in the general session will have a canister of disinfectant wipes to use on tabletops and seat
  • All coffee carts and buffet lines will provide hand sanitizer stations at the head of each line for everyone to participate in proper cleanliness
  • We have prepared seating for twice as many people then we have registered to attendance so there will be plenty of space in between attendees.
  • We are in a brand-new freestanding conference venue separate from the hotel and casino and we will be the second conference to use this brand new space.
  • Caesars has doubled down on housekeeping increasing cleaning protocols to include more frequent wiping and disinfecting of touch points in the conference and hotel facilities, such as door handles, elevator buttons, handrails, restroom stall doors and sinks.
  • Caesars added additional hand sanitizer stations in strategically places areas throughout the facility.
  • Increased the outside air intake/air change rate during occupied show hours.
  •  Reinforced its standard business employee health practices, including sending employees home and or encouraging anyone who does not feel well to stay home.

On-site Preparedness Plan for the attendee
The best way the public can protect themselves is to practice healthy habits and take steps that will protect themselves from being exposed to the spread of respiratory viruses.

The Health District encourages the public to follow CDC recommendations to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses as you would do with the flu.
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Cover cough and sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces/disinfectant wipes.

The Health District is continuing to work with the CDC, state, and local response partners to closely monitor the situation.

Situation Monitoring
  • NCoBC staff is meeting on a regular basis with key conference stakeholders and the venue to evaluate any risk in the host city.
  • Currently there are no reported cases of the coronavirus in Las Vegas
  • NCoBC is also actively monitoring CDC and WHO updates for further information
  • The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has publicly deemed the health risk of coronavirus for general American public to be low at this time. NCBC has no international registrants of concern and will not allow international registrations from concerning areas to attend.

We do have over 100 speakers and 80 vendors who are excited to participate in the upcoming event.

The health, safety and well-being of the community is the highest priority.
NCBC, along with our conference venue Caesars Entertainment, will be monitoring activity closely and providing updates.
