The Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center recently opened its doors to the South Central region of North Dakota (counties of Wells, Foster, Griggs, Stutsman, Barnes, Logan, LaMoure, McIntosh and Dickey) as a new stakeholder in the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem. With the vision of becoming a premier catalyst for entrepreneur activity in the region, the center is  supporting the creation and sustainment of economically thriving rural communities and promoting the pursuit of rural innovation. Its mission is to assist entrepreneurs in facilitating and launching successful products and businesses by igniting the synergies of industry, community, the University of Jamestown, government and other entrepreneur centers statewide. In this article Katherine Roth, Executive Director, gives a brief overview of the center, what programming is offered, and what the future holds for the center.

A Nibble of Data.
Parental employment is extremely important in regards to the future of a child. It is directly linked to increases in family income, a decrease in poverty, and a higher likelihood of children having access to health care. Although the  percentage of young children (under 6 years old) in North Dakota for whom all parents are working was  73.5 percent in 2016, it varied greatly by county from 98.7 percent in  Griggs County to 30.1 percent in  Sheridan County. In half of North Dakota counties (27 counties), at least 70 percent  of young children had all parents working in 2016.
