ND Happenings
On Wednesday, members of Campus Ministry and the boys' hockey team took the fourth grade class from St. Ann's in Bridgeport to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers game. ND students helped teach their elementary school partners the rules and spent a fun afternoon in conversation and fellowship. Participants included Justin Arvelo, Myles Atkins, Kevin Barrett, Sydney Beaton, Patrick Benvenuto, Michael Ceneri, Luis Colon, Brian Essing, Eryk Fancher, Ray Ferguson, Amalia Garzon, Chris Isaac, Kevin Jiang, Matt Newton, Julian Pastore, Gia Quintana, Aryanna Ryan, Clarissa Santa, Madison Siegler, Kevin Splan, Tiffany Suporn, Cheyenne Walker, Joseph Wasfi, Laura Weiss, and Lola Worsdale.  Also, special thanks to Mrs. Tabitha McKeon for helping to chaperone.
ND was awarded a $5,000 grant from Foundations in Education. The grant was awarded to Mrs . Strausser for the Art Production and Community Beautification Club that will begin in 2020-2021 school year.  Now in its 3rd year, Foundations in Education was the first of its kind to offer innovation and leadership grants to teachers and administrators. The grant program promotes excellence in Catholic education by supporting a teacher’s creative project and professional development.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this year's Souper Bowl for Caring drive to benefit the Person to Person Food Pantry. ND joined many other area schools in a combined effort to help restock pantries to help nourish those who need it most during these cold winter months.

This Week in Sports
The girls' basketball team won 65-33 over Brookfield High School on Friday night. Nique Mayo led scoring with 29 points and 4 assists. Mac Stone added 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Kayla Tilus added 8 points and 7 rebounds.
On Tuesday night, the Lady Lancers defeated Masuk High School 88-37. Erin Harris led scoring with 22 points and had 4 assists. Ciara Brown had 21 points and 4 steals. Kayla Tilus had a double double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Mac Stone added 10 points and Nique Mayo added 9 points and had 10 assists. The Lancers played a great, unselfish game to move their record to 13-1.
The girls' coop hockey team started this week facing off against the # 1 team in the state, Simsbury. Although we were down 2-0 early, we played very well and made it 2-1 in the 2nd period. Next up was Hand and we came ready to play. Rose Linkasamy had two goals. The next day we traveled to Guilford, and we went down early as we struggled to find our legs. The girls took a 3-2 lead several minutes after being tied. Following a key blocked shot by Nicole Toth, we scored again. We had 3 penalties, so our penalty kill came up big with great play by Eva Hofmeister and Rose Linkasamy.
The bowling team won their match on Tuesday. High games by Shauna Contreras with a 214, Matt Rohr with a 181 and Myles Atkins with a high series of 701.  Myles also achieved a 716 average at the CT Youth Adult tournament this past Sunday.
The boys' basketball team played the Brookfield Bobcats at home and had an impressive outing. The Lancers made extra passes on the offensive end which lead them to an 89-58 win. On Tuesday, ND traveled to Masuk. The teams traded baskets back and forth for three quarters of play. In the beginning of the fourth the Panthers pulled away by twenty points. The Lancers stayed true to giving the Panthers everything they had and with one minute left in the game they cut the deficit but could not come within striking distance to win. The Lancers then played Joel Barlow on the road. Barlow earned 17 points from the free throw line in the first half of the game to give them a lead going into half time. The Lancers struggled to come back in the second half and were defeated.
