ND Spotlight
ND Baseball Wins State Championship
Lancers baseball slugged their way to the school's fourth state championship defeating Coventry High School by a score of 10-6 last Saturday in Middletown.  Dillon Higgins '18 pitched a complete game striking out the side in the bottom of the 7th for the win, striking out eight in the game. Higgins finished the year with a 9-3 record and was selected to the All-State Baseball team and the Academic All-State team.  Richie Kerstetter '21  went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.  Tyler Romano '19  went 3-5 with 2 runs scored.  Pete Minore '18  went 2-4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Jacob Rainey '18  had a double with 2 RBI.   Bob Karosy '18  had a triple, RBI and a run scored.  Brian Teskey '19  scored 2 runs.  
Jeremy Tierney '18  had a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Five game state tournament totals:  Bob Karosy hit 3 home runs and had a .563 batting average, Dillon Higgins had 4 pitching wins and  had a .438 batting average, Pete Minore had a .438 batting average with 5 RBI, Richie Kerstetter had a .412 batting average with 4 doubles and 5 RBI, Tyler Romano had a .455 batting average and had 10 hits, Jacob Rainey '18 had a batting average with 3 doubles and 5 RBI. A state championship banquet will be held over the summer to celebrate the Lancer's victory.

Congratulations to...
... ND Business Manager Jeff Stone and his wife Kristen who welcomed their third child Elias on Saturday, June 9. Elias weighted in at 9lbs, 4 oz. and the entire family, including big sisters Zoey and Ryan, are all doing well.

Tyler Ouellette '19 who received the "Excellence in Mathematics and Science Award" from the School of Engineering of Fairfield University and Sikorsky Aircraft at a recent luncheon at Fairfield University. Tyler was selected based upon his demonstrated excellence in both math and science. He was joined at the awards ceremony by his parents.

This Week at ND
Students for Life Club Collects Baby Items
The Students for Life Club collected diapers, wipes, and baby clothes which will be delivered to the Sisters of Life - a community of religious sisters who house and support women in crisis pregnancies who have no where to go or are in need of assistance. ND Receives Recognition from Fordham University
On May 30, Jessica Medoff, Director of Campus Ministry, and Dr. Mary Callaghan, Academic Dean, attended a dinner at the Lincoln Center campus of Fordham University where Notre Dame was recognized for its outstanding commitment to the service of others in the community. At the 24th annual Catholic Education Excellence in Leadership Dinner, the Center for Catholic School Leadership and Faith Based Education at the Fordham University Graduate School of Education recognized Notre Dame "whose efforts contribute to formation of young people and enkindle in them a desire to serve both the Church and the world in a way that models Christ." Also in attendance were Superintendent Dr. Steven Cheeseman and Associate Superintendent Stacie Stueber, both also current Notre Dame parents.
Junior French IV-AP students finished this academic year with a look at modern French poets and their works. Guillaume Apollonaire was a poet, playwright,  short story writer , and  art critic  and he is also known as the "father" of the French CALLIGRAMME. Emily Pollard '19 is holding her calligramme ... a butterfly formed by the use of descriptive nouns and adjectives that when strategically placed reveal the image.  

Notre Dame Attends Broadway Workshop
Partially funded by the Foundations in Education grant and Decker Creative Support Grant, a group of Notre Dame's Dance, Dance Club and Drama Club students took on New York City on Friday, June 15th to see the Broadway production of The Lion King. The trip included a pre-show, step-by-step Broadway Classroom Workshop for original choreography from the show as well as a stop at the iconic Planet Hollywood restaurant for dinner. Students were given the incredible opportunity to meet several of The Lion King's cast members before the show: Pia Hamilton, Natalie Turner and Lisa Lewis. Chaperones for the trip included Ms. Hong. Mrs. Morales, and ND alumni Renice Desrosins ('17).

Summer Office Hours
Notre Dame offices will be open from 8:00 - 3:00 the week of June 18 and official summer hours will begin on June 25 when offices are open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm and 8:30 am - noon on Friday.

Please  click here to obtain a  2018-19 Notre Dame bus application and transportation information. Notre Dame currently offers two bus routes (Norwalk-AM and PM and Valley-AM only). These applications are due by June 15.
CONECT Wants to Hear From You
Mrs. Therese LeFever, the Co-Chair of CONECT,  is having a Candidate's Assembly  on June 26 at 7:00  at St. James School in the gym.  We have 4 of the candidates committed to attend.  This will give us the opportunity to tell our stories to the candidates and let them know what issues are important to us.   From 6-7 we will be meeting with young adults from age 14 to 18 in the cafeteria in the school to give you a sense of how we put together public actions, and what they can expect to see. (Pizza will be provided for all who are hungry.). We will then go to the assembly at approximately  6:55 If you have felt a sense of frustration, anger, or abandonment over the past year over the direction our leaders are taking our state and our nation, it is time to get off of the sidelines and join your voice with the members of your congregation and all of CONECT.   RSVP please ( See the attached flyer ) because seating will be limited.

Our Lady of the Assumption Church Tuition Raffle
Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield is excited to announce their Parish-SeptemberFest raffle will be a $25,000 Tuition Raffle.  Only 2,000 tickets will be sold at $25 per ticket . The prize can be used for any student of the winner's choice to attend any K-12 school, college or university, located and accredited in the U.S. Additionally, it can be used to pay back college loans! Makes a great graduation and Father's Day gift!  We must sell 1,000 tickets by August 15th  for the raffle to proceed. If fewer are sold, the raffle will be canceled and the ticket purchasers will receive a full refund. The drawing will take place at the end of SeptemberFest, Sunday September 16 at 6:00 PM. Summer Reading Requirements
Students in High Honors English are required to read  Refugeetheir required book, and at least one book of choice. Students in Honors, CP1, and CP2 are required to read  Refugee  and two books of their choice. Click here for more information regarding summer reading. 
Summer Math Packets
In an effort to build a strong foundation for high school math skills and to improve student success in math, students are required to complete the enclosed Summer 2018 Math packets. Click on the course you will be taking in the Fall.
Summer Service Opportunities 
St. Lawrence School in West Haven is looking for ND volunteers to help with their summer program.  There are two sessions.  The first session runs from   June 20th to July 3rd   and the second session runs from   July 9th to July 20th   for a total of 20 days (10 each session).  The program runs daily from   8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It would involve  helping staff who are running the program.  You could volunteer for the entire time or just one day.  The program is open to all incoming PreK-4 students up to 8th grade.  If you are interested, please contact the principal, Paul DeFonzo at

Join us at the Hunt Club,  174 Long Lots Rd, Westport  for the annual  CT Challenge Charity  Bike  Ride on  July 27 - 28.  We need over 500 Volunteers to help us set-up and run different areas of the event for our 1,200 riders!  NOTRE DAME VOLUNTEERS will focus on the following areas:

Fan the fire Youth Rally - August 11
The 13th Annual Fan the Fire Youth Rally will take place on Saturday, August 11 from 9:30 am to 10 pm at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. All young people in grades 8 through 12 are invited and encouraged to attend this incredible day.
The day will consist of inspiring keynote speakers, including Bishop Frank Caggiano and Chris Padgett, the celebration of Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, uplifting  workshop music, opportunities for the sacrament of Reconciliation, breakout sessions, entertainment, and service project coordinated by Catholic Relief Services. Lunch and dinner are included in the registrations fee.

Spring Into Summer at St. Theresa's 
Parents and teens in 9th to 12th grade are invited to St. Theresa's Sports Field on Tuesday, June 19 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm for a bonfire, pizza, s'mores, conversation with Sam Todzia and a wine and cheese social for parents. RSVP to Please bring a blanket or beach chair. 
College Essay Boot Camp NEW DATES ( June 19-22 )
This summer many rising seniors will begin to think seriously about college.  One thing students can do to relieve the pressure that will come once those application deadlines approach is to write their application essay ahead of time.  This four-day, ten-hour workshop will take participants through all the stages of the writing process to complete a college application essay. The workshop will run from 9:30-12:00 from June 19 through June 22 and take place at Notre Dame.  It will be capped at 8 students so that each student can receive individualized attention.
