ND Happenings
The Parent Association, faculty and staff would like to thank all the parents who donated to our Faculty and Staff Appreciation Days! With your monetary and food donations, our teachers and staff enjoyed a delicious breakfast, lunch from Vazzy’s and a bunch of raffle prizes. A huge thank you also goes out to Deb Carrara , who chaired this event for the second year in a row and once again, did a fabulous job of recognizing our beloved faculty and staff.
As part of New England Catholic Schools Week, Student Appreciation Day was celebrated on Thursday. In addition to a dress down day and a homework-free night, students participated in a game show assembly hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Cipriano and MCed by Anthony Vayda '19. Games from the Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal and Minute to Win It were played with prizes ranging from gift cards to a free prom ticket and Yearbook. A big thank you to the Parent Association for sponsoring the event and providing all of the prizes won by the students!
Congratulations to the cast and crew of ND's fall drama, The Dining Room, for an excellent production on Thursday evening. Bravo! Bravo!
The annual ND  Laying of the Mums  took place on Wednesday. The ceremony, led by Father Peter Cipriani of Assumption Church, honored former ND faculty who have passed, including Mrs. Carole Surina, Mr. John Waldeyer, Dr. Robert DeSimone, Mr. Richard LaTorre, Ms. Jean Baranyar, Mr. James Lombardo, Mr. Steve Nemergut, Dr. Edward H Bourque, and Fr. William Sangiovanni. Mums were laid at the base of each person's commemorative tree followed by a remembrance and prayer. This dedication is a French tradition in which even the smallest of French children visit a cemetery in order that all who have passed be honored.
The seniors in our ECE University of Connecticut's Spanish Composition course, painted seasonal masks and composed a short story. Short stories varied between mysteries and science fiction. The students presented their masks and shared their story with the class.
The painting studio students are putting their final touches on their reproduction of famous paintings that are rendered on rocks!
A big thank you to everyone who helped make Notre Dame's 11th annual Service Day a tremendous success on Friday. Special thanks to Ms. Medoff for countless hours of coordinating this massive undertaking. A full report of the day's success will be shared in next week's Update.
