LANCERS IN ACTION

Putting Reaction Time to the Test

Mrs. Almeida’s High Honors Biology students are using scientific methods and skills to investigate the question: How does hand dominance affect a person’s reaction time when responding to a visual stimulus? Students will use the ruler-drop test to collect data, convert distance measurements into reaction times, calculate the mean reaction

times of their dominant and non-dominant hands, graph their results, and analyze class-wide trends. They will also research the roles of neural pathways, muscle memory, and

the brain’s hemispheres in reaction time. Students will conclude this engaging investigation by identifying potential sources of error and proposing ideas for future

experiments.

Freshman Parent Reception

On behalf of the NDP Parent Association, thank you to all the Class of 2030 parents who joined us for our annual Freshman Parent Reception. See you next week at the Back to School BBQ!

Making Something Out of Nothing

Students in the 3-D/sculpture studio were given a variety of colorful scrap papers. The object was to create an original dimensional piece using the paper. It had to be interesting from all sides, sturdy and well crafted.

Opening of School Mass

Earlier today, we celebrated our Opening of School Mass at Sacred Heart’s Chapel. It was a beautiful way to start the year. Thank you to Fr. Emiel for celebrating Mass, our Campus Ministry members who served as altar servers, readers, and gift bearers and Mr. Chuba’s choir for helping make the celebration so special. We also observed a moment of silence in remembrance of September 11 and all those whose lives were impacted by that day.

Freshman Social

Our freshmen kicked off the year on Wednesday with a fun night of pizza, games, music, karaoke and new friendships!

Thanks to our Link Crew leaders for hosting a great Freshman Social and helping our newest Lancers feel right at home!
