Spring 2022 Newsletter
Recent news, events, and useful information from the
Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association
During a decade when many professional associations struggled with a steady decline in membership, the Federal Court Bar Association quickly became my second home – a place where I found lasting relationships and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Since taking the helm of our great Association in January, I have spoken with many of you about ways we can better convey to non-members that, by joining our ranks, they too can find a home at the FCBA.

In January, the Federal Court Bar Association selected Tina Chericoni Versaci as its new Executive Director.

At its annual dinner on December 9, 2021, the FCBA honored this year’s Scullin Scholars, who are (pictured left to right with Senior United States District Judge Frederick J. Scullin, Jr.) Deana DiBenedetto, Albany Law School; Katherine Rahmlow, Cornell Law School; and Matthew Mayers, Syracuse University College of Law. This year, nearly 100 FCBA members attended the annual dinner at the Craftsman Inn in Fayetteville, New York, which featured remarks by Chief United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby and a presentation by guest speaker Robert J. Searing, curator of history at the Onondaga Historical Association.

Since the publication of the Early Winter 2021 issue of the NDNY-FCBA newsletter, the issuance of decisions regarding New York State’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has increased in pace, while the decisions themselves appear to have generally diminished in complexity when compared to the complexity of prior such decisions, as the law has been clarified by the Second Circuit, and various COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.

The Constitutional Scholars Program’s Seventh Annual Constitution Contest is now accepting entries. The contest is open to all students in grades nine through twelve in the 32 counties that constitute the Northern District of New York
