BISMARCK, N.D. – Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, The North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC) names their 2022 Duane Kuehn Outstanding Safety Professional. Christin Fine is this year’s winner. The award was presented during the closing session of the 50th Annual Safety and Health Conference.
Christin Fine is the Director of EHS at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC). Her peers and supervisors know Fine as a "voice for employees." Throughout more than a decade of education and advocacy work with EERC, Fine has been successful in leading both front-line employees and upper management. Fine works in a fast-paced pilot-scale R&D facility at EERC and has developed new programs and kept injury rates at a minimum.
"Christin has led the EERC to truly understand what it means to have safety as a core value...a guiding principle...rather than a check box," says Chris Rash, from EERC, who nominated Fine for the award.
This is the second straight year a woman has won the NDSC Outstanding Safety Professional award. Prior to last year, a woman had never before won the award. The Outstanding Safety Professional award is named after Duane Kuehn, a North Dakotan who worked in the safety industry for 40 years, and whose attitude and compassion was unparalleled.
