NDSC Names Outstanding Safety Professional
BISMARCK, N.D. - Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 -- The North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC) named their 2019 Duane Kuehn Outstanding Safety Professional Thursday, Feb. 27 at their 47th  Annual Safety and Health Conference. Tyler Svihovec was presented with the NDSC's highest award for his efforts during his safety career.

Svihovec is the Manager of Safety and Risk Management at Industrial Contractors Inc. (ICI), an NDSC member company.  During Svihovec's time with ICI, he has implemented key programs like the Cardinal Rules of Safety; the Good Catch Safety Award; and Safety Observation Program. He also implemented the JSA program, ensuring it's effectiveness by defining the roles; training how to recognize hazards; and how to identify better processes to improve safety across the workforce.

Svihovec's coworkers say he leads by example and can often be found out on the job sites assisting with training, and coaching employees and supervisors. Now at ICI, safety is the FIRST item on the agenda at every company meeting and incident rates have considerably improved.

The Outstanding Safety Professional award is named after Duane Kuehn, a North Dakotan who worked in the safety industry for 40 years and whose attitude and compassion were unparalleled.
