March 12th, 2022 
Join us on March 12, 2022, for the FREE, NDVS-hosted Women Veterans Conference. The hybrid event is available via Zoom or in-person at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
The 2022 Veterans Legislative Symposia is Coming up in March
Join us for the 2022 Nevada Veterans Legislative Symposia. The Reno and Las Vegas events serve as an important platform to identify and prioritize key legislative areas that will be presented to Nevada lawmakers for consideration in the next session of the Legislature. Federal issues will be presented to Nevada’s Congressional delegation.
VA Seeks Veterans Input on Mission Statement 
On February 23, 2022, the VA announced a public request for feedback on how it’s mission statement can evolve into something that is more inclusive and representative of the changing needs of veterans in the 21st century. Read More
Dedication Ceremony Set for the Crombie Academy 
NDVS will host a dedication ceremony on March 4th for the Crombie Academy, housed at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home. This academy is a free, Certified Nursing Assistant training program. Read More

Winnemucca Mayor’s Challenge Launch  
We are excited to share that the City of Winnemucca has accepted the Mayor’s Challenge to Reduce Suicide Among Servicemembers, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF). Read More
Suicide Prevention: VA REACH  
One of NDVS’ top priorities is veteran and family member suicide prevention. An important protective factor is keeping service members, veterans, and their families connected to others and to needed resources. Read More
Veterans Healthcare Pocket Card Launches  
The NDVS Healthcare Services team is proud to announce the launch of the Veterans Healthcare Pocket Card. This initiative is aimed at educating and informing our healthcare partners on the ways to identify veterans and engage in dialogue about their military service, identify military exposures, screen for suicide risk, and connect veterans with resources. The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation have released a new Mental Health Booklet to help military and veteran caregivers who may be facing burnout, exhaustion, or hopelessness. Read More

Gold Star Families visit Nevada State Veterans Memorial
Gold Star Families in southern Nevada received special recognition and honor during the month of February. Twenty-eight Gold Star Family members visited the Nevada State Veterans Memorial, located in front of the Grant Sawyer Building in Las Vegas. Read More

Becomes an NVA
Congratulations to Las Vegas City Councilman Brian Knudsen! He is now a graduate of our online Nevada Veteran Advocate (NVA) course. He recently completed the training to receive his certificate and become an official NVA! Read More
Updates for Veteran Discharge Upgrades for Navy and Marine Corps Veterans 
As a result of a recent federal court decision, the Navy Discharge Review Board will need to reconsider several requests for Discharge Upgrades related to veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Military Sexual Trauma (MST). Read More

Remembering the Anniversary of Iraq War
