2019 STEM Education + Workplace Partnerships Statewide Summit

   
This year's Future Ready Iowa Summit titled, "STEM Education + Workplace Partnerships," takes place on April 30, 2019, at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.  The Governor's STEM Advisory Council will be hosting the event.
 
The summit agenda includes remarks by the Governor, Lt. Governor and Iowa leaders in business, industry and education. The morning keynote speaker is Pallavi Verma, senior managing director U.S.-Midwest at Accenture, who will talk about harnessing Artificial Intelligence to innovate and grow. Gov. Reynolds also will announce the names of six high-poverty elementary schools that will receive a total of $300,000 in grants ($50,000 each) as part of the Computer Science is Elementary Project.

  Scale-UpMarch 4 is the Deadline to apply for a Scale-Up Program   
     
PreK-12 educators have until the end of the day on Monday, March 4 to apply for a scale-up program through the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council.
   
 
The ten programs available on the STEM Scale-Up Program menu include:

 Computer Deadline to apply for Computer Science is Elementary is March 29
 
 
Application details are now available for Computer Science is Elementary. The project will transform six high-poverty elementary schools across Iowa into models of innovative computer science instruction by the 2020-2021 school year. A growing number of jobs require computer science skills. This program will help prepare students for success in computer science and future careers opportunities.

School districts and non-public school systems with an elementary building of at least 40 percent of students eligible for free- and reduced-price lunch are eligible to apply. Six awardees will be selected to receive a $50,000 planning award through a competitive award application process. One Computer Science is Elementary School will be located in each of the six regions established by the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council.
