Creative Forces Community Engagement

The Creative Forces Community Engagement grant program, a partnership between the NEA and Mid-American Arts Alliance, supports programming for military and veteran populations—including family members and caregivers. Through the experience of art or artmaking, participants can express themselves creatively while building resilience and social connectedness. Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network is an initiative of the NEA in partnership with the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. It seeks to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for military and veteran populations exposed to trauma, as well as their families and caregivers.

artsHERE

Through non-matching grants and peer learning opportunities, ArtsHERE invests in organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to equity within their practices and programming. The goal is to increase arts participation for underserved groups and communities and share insights that may inform similar funding programs in the future.


Managed by South Arts, NEA's ArtsHERE will award some 95 nonprofit organizations with non-matching grants of between $65,000 and $130,000. Applicants should propose a specific project that will strengthen and sustain the organization’s capacity for robust community engagement and support strategies to increase arts participation for underserved groups/communities.

Big Read, an initiative of the NEA in partnership with Arts Midwest, supports community reading programs designed around a single book. The goal of this program is to inspire meaningful conversations, celebrate local creativity, elevate a wide variety of voices and perspectives, and build stronger connections in each community.

Call for Nonfiction Filmmakers

The Moving Image Fund has put out a Call for production and post-production nonfiction film and video projects longer than 40 minutes. New England-based directors and producers seeking production and post-production funds are encouraged to apply. For post-production funding, the project must have already been supported during a previous stage.
