Registration Now Open for Washington Leaders' Conference
|
Registration is now open for The New England Council's 2020 Washington Leaders' Conference, which will take place on Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14. Join over 200 Council members for two days of meetings and briefings with members of Congress, key Congressional staff, federal agency officials, and national media figures.
Please note that the conference takes place during a very busy time in Washington, DC, and we encourage members to make travel arrangements as soon as possible. A limited number of hotel rooms are being held under several room blocks, all with April deadlines to make reservations.

On February 10, 2020, the NEC Financial Services Committee hosted a meeting with
Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA), who serves on the House Financial Services Committee. The meeting was held immediately following the Council's Congressional Roundtable breakfast with the Congressman. During the small group discussion, Rep. Lynch updated members on his work as the Chair of the newly-established Financial Technology (FinTech) Task Force, and provided updates on other matters before the committee. Higher Education Committee Holds Briefing with Sen. Warren's Staff

On February 19, NEC Higher Education Committee members had the opportunity to participate in a conference call with Josh Delaney, Education Policy Adviser to
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). Mr. Delaney updated members on the Senator's work as a member of the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee. He discussed the prospects for re-authorization of the Higher Education Act as well as the Senator's College Student Hunger Act, and data on student loan repayment.
