NEC Releases Updated Higher Ed-Industry Partnership Directory
Second Edition of "Partnerships for the Talent Pipeline"
The New England Council recently released the second edition  of  "Partnerships for the Talent Pipeline: Directory of New England Higher Education & Industry Partnerships."    The updated version of the directory--which was first released in the fall of 2016--highlights over 80 programs affiliated with colleges and universities throughout New England which aim to connect students and employers in order to strengthen our regional workforce.

The partnerships highlighted in the directory go beyond the traditional internship model to provide a variety of experiential learning opportunities, to develop curriculum that will best prepare students for future job opportunities, and to develop pipelines for post-graduation employment.   The Council hopes that this updated directory will continue to be a useful resource to policymakers and other stakeholders, and will encourage employers and educational institutions to continue to pursue and expand partnership initiatives that develop our region's talent pipeline.  For more information or to
New Report Highlights Economic Impact of REITs

NEC Report Highlights Role of REITs in New England Economy
In September, The New England Council released a new report, "Economic Impact of REITs in New England."  T he report, developed with economic data and content compiled by  Nareit , details the various ways that Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) are contributing to the New England economy, ranging from employment, to assets, to community revitalization.

REITs (Real Estate Investment Trust) own, operate or finance income-producing real estate, and provide investors the chance to own an interest in that valuable real estate. Across the six New England states, REIT-owned properties include everything from commercial properties like office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, data centers, and recreational and entertainment facilities; residential properties such as apartment complexes and rental homes; as well as consumer and commercial storage facilities, over 3000 telecom towers and nearly one million acres of timber land. In total, there are over 13,000 REIT-owned properties in New England, which represent $94 billion in gross assets, and support over 100,000 jobs.

For more information on the report, contact Emily Heisig.
