As we move through the fast and bustling holiday season, we want to take a moment to focus on gratitude and encourage everyone to reflect on the things they are grateful for.

Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can have a significant impact on our well-being and happiness. Taking time to express gratitude helps us appreciate the people and experiences that bring us joy. Whether it's the supportive community we have here at the center, the small acts of kindness from friends and family, or simply the beauty of nature, there is always something to be thankful for.

Sometimes taking time to reflect on what we are thankful for can be tough, but when as look back on the last year we can see how much we have to appreciate.

In just the last 12 months we:
  • Launched our Jump Start Swim program, a no-cost swim lesson program centered on BIPOC youth. In just two sessions, we welcomed 40 families who had the opportunity to learn water safety skills
  • Wrapped up the first year of our After School Time program, serving 40 families with students coming from 7 different schools
  • Welcomed over 100 new households to The Community Fund
  • Invested in crucial facility upgrades to update our pool’s automatic chemical delivery system and replace our building's original 1925 boiler with a modern, reliable, energy-efficient heating and cooling system
  • Connected with new community members and staff, and said goodbye to others who will be dearly missed

None of the above would have been possible without the dedicated community of volunteers, staff, neighbors, donors, families, friends, instructors, and students who make up our community.

Thank you so much to:
  • The parents, grandparents and siblings who joined their little ones in the pool to take part in their swimming journey
  • Gary Gibbs and Duane Monroe, who volunteered their time and expertise towards the modernization of our ventilation, heating, and cooling system
  • Our After School Time kids who bring our front desk staff flowers from their walk to the center and fill the gym with giggles and fun
  • The instructors and students creating a welcoming space in their classes for new community members
  • The Northeast Village volunteers working hard to create a better experience of aging and bring our organizations together
  • Our volunteer board members moving our organization forward while ensuring the center is available to the community for years to come
  • All of the people who have generously donated, ensuring the community can continue to laugh, connect, swim, exercise, learn, and play
  • Every person who has walked through our doors, signed in online, or otherwise participated in our community this past year.

We are extremely grateful for all of you and your dedication to the NECC. Whether you have been with us for a long time or are new to our programs, your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We encourage everyone to join us in this month's theme of gratitude and take a moment to reflect on the things you are grateful for. Let's cultivate a sense of appreciation and thankfulness in our community!

Sincerely,
NECC Staff
