NEECA Gets 99 Year Lease!
March of 2022 saw the culmination of 3 years worth of effort when the Athol Board of Selectman signed a 99 year lease with NEELMCC for the NEECA Equestrian Park, located at 802 New Sherborn Road in Athol. The NEECA Board of Directors is very pleased to have the assurance that NEECA will be around for many years to come, especially in light of the plans we have for added improvements/additions to the park in the near future.

We'd like to give a special thanks to Town Manager, Shaun Suhowski, for all the help he gave us in achieving this important goal. Shaun has been very supportive of our efforts and recognizes the fact that NEECA has grown into an asset to both this town and region.

We just celebrated NEECA's 20th Anniversary last year, here's to a 100 more!!!!
We've got three fun events happening at NEECA in the next couple of weeks. Please plan to join us! More information available on our website at www.neeca.org.

“Early Bird” Birding with Jeff Johnstone at NEECA
Join the Athol Bird and Nature Club and Jeff Johnstone at NEECA on Friday May 6, at 7:15 AM to explore for spring migrants. Meet at the trailer parking lot inside NEECA and bring your binoculars if you have them. This is a great opportunity for the beginning and novice birder to learn from one of the area’s best field naturalists! Come for as long as your morning schedule allows. Rain cancels. For information call Jeff Johnstone, 978-249-9052.
$$$$$ Looking to make a little extra money? NEECA needs someone to run our Food Booth operations during our events this year. We will pay for the food, and split the profits from the food sales for the day with the Food Booth Coordinator. Coordinator will be responsible for purchasing the food and supplies, and operating the booth during the event. Need ServSafe Certification, but if you don't have it, we may be able to help sponsor you.
Great way to earn some money, hang around with some fun horse people, and help NEECA out at the same time. Interested? Please email Caroline at carolinemansfield01@gmail.com.

Meet NEECA's Board of Directors!
PAM DEGREGORIO - Pam has lived at Pine Meadow in New Salem with her horses for almost 42 years. She has been enjoying riding for over 50 years. Pam is a licensed riding instructor and is also a retired Director of Student Services for Harvard Public Schools.

Pam has had a lot of fun on her Fjord, Tego, over the years and has enjoyed some dressage, versatility, and trail riding. Pam also owns a gray Andalusian/Paint cross - Reuben, and has trained a Morab weanling and an Arabian yearling during her journey with horses. She’s living on her small farm with her partner, Charlie Chase, five horses, a pony, and two minis. Pam has cherished sharing her love of horses with her daughter, Erin Degnan, and her 7-year old granddaughter, Brielle.

The photo above is of Pam riding her buddy, Tego at Crane Beach a few years ago.
CAROLINE MANSFIELD - Caroline, shown above riding her "heart horse" Cooper, was born in Ireland, and inherited her love of horses from her Dad. She started riding lessons at the age of 9, and pestered her poor parents until they finally gave in and got her a horse when she was 12. She had that mare until she left for college where she received a B.S. in Equine Studies from the Univ. of Connecticut.

She worked at a couple of barns in CT and NY before heading up to MA after getting married. She currently lives in Athol with her husband, two big, furry German Shepherds and 3 horses which, along with NEECA, seem to take up a LOT of her time. She reared two young ‘uns of her own and sent them off into the world to make their way.

She has been involved with NEECA nearly since it's beginning and is deeply committed to seeing the park continue to grow into the amazing facility it has the potential to be.
