NEECA Newsletter

We had a record setting number of competitors at NEECA's August Gymkhana. 57 riders of all ages and skill level showed up for another exciting day of games!

The final gymkhana of this four event series will be taking place on Sunday, Sept. 10th.

Click here for patterns. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Don't forget the NEECA Nibblers Food Booth will be open for lunch from 11:30 to 1:30.

Lastly, don't forget that there WILL BE another gymkhana at NEECA on Oct. 1st. Right now it is scheduled to be a Cash Gymkhana. So we hope you plan to come on down and Dash for the Cash!! Please note that if the Sept. 10th gymkhana is cancelled due to weather, the Oct. 1st date will be used as a make up date instead of a Cash Gymkhana.

*Many thanks to Brianna Kilgore from Emerald Sage Photography for supplying us with these wonderful pictures.

NEECA's first effort to host a Side Saddle Clinic in this area went off without a hitch. The weather cooperated, the horses were willing, the participants were engaged and enthusiastic, and the instructor was wonderful.

Many thanks to Maggie Herlensky, who came from all the way out in Ohio, for making it such a fun, interesting day for everyone involved. A special shout out to Jayne Haggard from Heron's Crest Stable for suggesting this clinic in the first place, and for being there to help on the day of the event. Thanks also to Carol Boudreau for being on hand to help, along with taking some wonderful pictures of the day's activities.

We hope to get Maggie back again in the near future to do another clinic for us. And remember that if you have an idea for a clinic/event at NEECA, reach out and let us know!

PARK IMPROVEMENT UPDATES

The new speaker set-up at NEECA is up and running! We now have underground wires leading to the poles next to the main arena, in addition to speakers being located out by the trailer parking driveway. We still have to get a couple of speakers installed so that folks in the warm-up ring can hear announcements clearly but hope to have that done within the next couple of weeks.

It's taking longer than we hoped, but we are close to having the well up and running at NEECA. The rainy weather didn't help us any because the trenches kept getting filled up with water. But perseverance pays off in the end and we got all the underground work done. Next we needed to build an addition off the back of the food booth to house the tank, etc. We're thrilled to announce that is being taking care of this week. Pictured is Larry Marshall from Barre, who is donating his very high end carpentry skills to build this needed addition. We want to thank Larry, and his able assistant Margo Petracone, for taking on this project for us. It bears repeating that NEECA would not be the facility it is today if it wasn't for the skill and generosity of so many people who volunteer their time and talents selflessly.

NEECA would like to welcome the newest addition to our Online Business Directory, Jillian Cassel from Atlantic Coast Equine, Phillipston, MA.

Jillian is a Certified PEMF Magnawave practitioner and a Certified Equine Massage Therapist (CEMT). She also works on dogs. For more information, check out https://www.facebook.com/atlanticcoastequine

Helpful Info When Riding At NEECA

  • The NEECA gates are usually closed in order to deter mischief, but they are NEVER LOCKED
  • Park is open from Dawn to Dusk every day
  • If you would like to use the Main Arena, cost is $5 per 90 minute session, and you need to contact [email protected] to schedule a time
  • We ask that you sign a waiver before riding at the park. You can do so online: https://www.neeca.org/liability-release-form
  • Please close the gate when you leave, as long as there is no official event taking place that day
  • Clean up around your trailer before leaving. There is a dumpster on site for trash, and please pick up all manure left in parking areas
  • You do not have to be a NEECA member to walk/ride the trails, but membership is required if you would like to use any of the rings, Confidence Course, jumps, or round pen. Membership fees go towards the maintenance and improvement of these amenities.

NEECA's Going Digital!!

We are trying to collect as many waivers online versus paper copies for all our members. It will just make keeping track of who has signed a waiver a WHOLE lot easier. So if you haven't signed an online waiver form yet, even if you've already signed a paper one, we'd appreciate you taking a minute to follow the link below to submit one. Thanks!
