Save the Date: NEFLIN Annual Meeting
The NEFLIN Annual Meeting has been scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2017.  We'll tease out the details over the next few months (as only we can do).

For those thinking, "What can compete with last year's
Librarian Olympics?", you just don't know us.  We are already in the laboratory devising another exciting event for this fall.
We hope to see you then!

2017 Expert Series Kicks Off!
The 2017 Expert Series kicked off with a large group of 68 attendees in Gainesville.  T he author of Making Work Work, Shola Richards, gave us keys, strategies, and inspiration for "Creating a Workplace of Unstoppable Positivity",  and by the end of the day, you could feel positivity in the air.  The room was filled with smiles, chatter, warmth, and a renewed energy.

We hope that those of you who were there had a great experience and that you have been able to use Shola's concepts to make your library a better place.

Here are some photos from the day.

Sign up now for our next speaker in the Expert Series -
"Open to All - Are You Really?" with Maxine Bleiweis on February 28th.
Life on the Inside

Brad here.  Do you have a minute?

I have been attending the Florida Library Association (FLA) Annual Conference for many years.  In many ways it is a highlight, but here's the thing.  It makes me crazy to sit in the big ballroom with staff from all over the state and see person after person who work in libraries outside of NEFLIN going up on stage and accepting awards.  Crazy, right?

NEFLIN libraries are doing so many good programs, rolling out innovative services, providing great customer service, etc.

::lowers voice to a whisper::

So, I decided that I needed to become an FLA insider.  I joined the FLA Awards Committee.  What did I learn?  Libraries in Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale and so on are doing good things.  They are award worthy.  However, most are doing things that NEFLIN libraries are doing too.

::back to normal voice::

Apply now for one of the 18 FLA Awards.  Eighteen.  Dieciocho.  Dix-huit.  There has got to be a least one out of eighteen for which you can fill out the short online form for your library and bring some  awards to northeast Florida!

Have you heard about OSMO?

NEFLIN has a number of items available for loan to our members, and the Equipment Loan program is growing!  This month, we are proud to introduce three new kits, available now for check-out to our members:

Osmo Coding Kit
Osmo Creative Kit

Osmo Genius Kit

Osmo offers unique gaming accessories for the iPad.  Each kit in our collection comes with 10 individual units that foster learning in key areas such as: creative problem solving, art, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and Common Core.  Take a look at these new additions, as well as all of what NEFLIN has to offer, in our Equipment Loan program.
Help Us Help You - Take the Annual Survey
Has NEFLIN helped you?  Do you have suggestions to help us serve you better?

It's time for the 2017 NEFLIN Annual Survey, and your participation is so important to us!  NEFLIN serves many types of libraries with many different needs, and we value your input as we make decisions for the next year of programming and services.

In addition, 90% of our operating funds comes from grants, and the data and feedback we gather from the Annual Survey is crucial to maintaining our funding.

If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to complete this year's survey, which will be available until Friday, February 24th.

Thanks for being a part of NEFLIN!
Spotlight on Keiser University - Melbourne

Keiser University - Melbourne Campus
Keiser University Melbourne is located in Brevard County, on Florida's "Space Coast," so not only does it have wonderful, close by beaches that evoke an old-time Florida feel and easy access to Orlando, but it also has the excitement of having NASA and other space-related entities in the community, as well as proximity to Patrick AFB. We cater to a mostly non-traditional student demographic which includes almost every imaginable background, and our wonderful students bring amazing life experiences with them, which greatly enriches our campus culture. We love providing service to them!

Programs offered through the KU Melbourne Campus include, but are not limited to: Accounting, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, General Studies, Health Services Administration, Homeland Security, Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Paralegal Studies, Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Technology, and Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology.

The library itself is a daily hub of activity, and we, like many others, vacillate between mad rushes and more quiet periods (good for paperwork!). We highly value our working relationships with students and faculty, and we are very lucky that our services are regularly appreciated by those we serve.
