Libraries Unplugged Conference
|
Here's a reward for reading this Newsletter - later this week we will send out the official Call for Proposals for this year's Hot Topics conference:
Libraries Unplugged and you can get a leg up on the competition by sending in your proposal now!
We've been plugging this event for several months now, but just in case you missed it, this one day conference will be held on
June 15 featuring libraries showing off their efforts with projects that get customers into their buildings. From Maker efforts to Comic Cons, game nights, and all things in between, Libraries Unplugged will showcase what you have been doing to bring the masses to the library.
Showing off unique items in Special Collections? Bringing homeschooling families together in enriching activities? Running a Book to Movie Club? Whatever the effort, you'll have the opportunity to share your successes with your NEFLIN colleagues June 15 in Jacksonville.

NEFLIN serves many types of libraries with many different needs, and we value your input as we make decisions for the next year of programming and services. |
In addition, most of our operating funds comes from grants, and the data we gather from the Annual Survey is crucial to maintaining our funding.
This year's
Annual Survey
only takes 10-15 minutes to complete. We hope you'll set aside this time to give us your feedback, and encourage your colleagues to do the same.
Thank you for your participation, and thank you for being a part of NEFLIN!

Member Spotlight: Diane Johnson
|
We are pleased to put the spotlight this month on NEFLIN member, Diane Johnson.
|
Growing up in Newark, New Jersey, Diane Johnson was an ardent library user of both the public and academic libraries located in the community. But, it would be a quarter of a century after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania that she was approached with the idea of working in one. Over the past 15 years she has enjoyed every moment.
|
Arriving late in the professional, she began her career with the Nassau County (FL) Public Library System as a Youth Librarian. Quickly, she became an enthusiastic NEFLIN member. Later, she received her library degree from the University of South Florida at age 50, and once again turned to various NEFLIN workshops, seminars and annual conferences for professional training, exposure and networking opportunities.
She is a graduate of the
Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute, has facilitated a NEFLIN Strategic Planning Focus Group, and now serves as the facilitator for the
NEFLIN Public Libraries Interest Group.
Recently, Diane was with Marion County Public Library System as Youth Services Manager, and is now a Library Manager with the Alachua County Library District at the Cone Park Branch. Diane encourages everyone to keep pursuing your dreams, because "new beginnings" are possible for everyone.

Traditional customer service can only reach the customers we see within our library. As our collections, digital resources and users continue to shift from the physical to the virtual worlds, we need to deliver strong customer service to remain vital and connected to our users.
In this highly interactive class, we will look at how we can deliver customer service through our social media, email, website and our databases.
We still need a few folks to sign up for this class to avoid cancelling it! Don't miss this fantastic opportunity for face-to-face learning! Click here to register today!
