Greetings!
February is upon us, and Spring is just around the corner. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a new season! In many ways, Spring equals renewal and rejuvenation, and who wouldn't welcome some of that?
Remember that NEFLIN is here for you. If you're feeling a bit stuck or weighed down by the last year, we hope that NEFLIN will provide you chances to look ahead, learn something new, or make new connections. Check out the opportunities in this newsletter, explore the NEFLIN Website, or if you need a quick refresher on all NEFLIN offers, take a look at our Welcome to NEFLIN video.
As always, if there's anything we can do to help you, we're just an email or phone call away!

NEFLIN Technology Conference 2021
Last month we asked you to save the date for our 2021 NEFLIN Technology Conference (that's Thursday, May 6 in case you forgot). It's a virtual event this time and we are currently accepting proposals for presentations (click here for details). We thought we'd take a minute to introduce you to our keynote presenter, Dr. Matt Finch.
Matt is a strategist and writer who helps companies, communities, and institutions (including libraries!) to plan for the future. He is Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Southern Queensland, Lead Facilitator on the Scenario Planning Program at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, and was 2016-2017 Creative in Residence at the State Library of Queensland, Australia. You can read more about him as well as his work on his website, mechanicaldolphin.com.
Please join us May 6, 2021, for an unforgettable learning experience! You'll enjoy several breakout sessions as well as Matt's keynote. We'll bring all the fun and education of the in-person Tech Conference to your device! Conference registration will open next month!

Best Wishes to Jeannie Owens
It's hard to imagine NEFLIN without Jeannie Owens, but after 17 years, the time has come for our beloved Administrative Assistant to begin a new adventure: Retirement!
If you've ever taken a NEFLIN workshop, attended a NEFLIN event, received a NEFLIN email, borrowed a piece of NEFLIN equipment, or worn a pair of NEFLIN shoes, you can thank Jeannie for the tireless work she has done behind the scenes to make that possible. On top of that, she is the friendly face you see when you walk in the office and the friendly voice you hear when you call. It certainly won't be the same here without her, but we share her excitement in reaching this well-deserved milestone.
Thank you, Jeannie, for all you've done for NEFLIN. You will be missed, but not forgotten!
If you'd like to send your best wishes to Jeannie, you can email her at jeannie@neflin.org or send cards to the NEFLIN Office by March 31st.

NEFLIN Board of Directors Update
It's been our pleasure here at NEFLIN to have Sam Putnam of UF's Smathers Libraries serve on our Board for several years. Sam has also served as an Interest Group facilitator and presented at several NEFLIN Conferences. We appreciate his willingness to take such an active role here at NEFLIN! In May, Sam will begin a new position as Director of the Dibner Library at NYU. We wish him all the best in this new chapter of his career!
Thankfully, while we're saying goodbye to Sam, we are also welcoming a new Board member, Alan Asher.
Alan is a librarian at UF's Architecture & Fine Arts Library and the Subject Liaison for Music, Theatre, and Dance. Welcome, Alan - we're looking forward to getting to know you!

Online Microsoft Excel training!
NEFLIN has brought you a few different forms of training for Microsoft Excel over the years. Last year we started offering online training from our partners at New Horizons. Now we are bringing that opportunity back as well as a different experience aimed solely at library staff from Library Juice Academy.
Next is a little something new and different from Library Juice Academy - this is a four part, asynchronous class on using Excel in libraries. This one is a self-paced class. You will have most of the month of May to complete all the assignments. You don't need advanced Excel skills for this one. It's aimed at people who already have some familiarity with the program, but beginners are welcome as well: Click Here for more information or to register!
"Which one should I take?" you may ask. That's up to you (and perhaps your boss). If you want a wider knowledge of Excel and how to use it to the fullest potential, take the New Horizons series (just make sure you can take all three on those dates! They will NOT be recorded!). If you just need to learn how to use spreadsheets in a library setting, Library Juice Academy is your jam.

Take the NEFLIN Annual Survey
Every year at this time, we invite your feedback in our NEFLIN Annual Survey. The Annual Survey provides us valuable feedback as we plan new services and programs for you, our members. It only takes 10-15 minutes, and we hope you'll make your voice heard by taking the 2021 survey today!
As an added incentive, everyone who takes the survey will be entered into a drawing for one of five $25 amazon.com gift cards!
The deadline to complete the survey is March 1st.
