Save the Date: Tech Conference 2021
It's about that time again!

The 2021 NEFLIN Technology Conference will be Thursday, May 6. This time around it will be a virtual event. Our keynote speaker will be Matt Finch of Oxford University's Said Business School. A Q&A session will follow his keynote address.
We are now accepting proposals for conference breakout sessions. Proposals should consider the question How can we use technology to create the future for libraries? You may submit your proposal by clicking on this link.

Please join us May 6, 2021, for an unforgettable learning experience! You'll enjoy several breakout sessions as well as Matt's keynote. We'll bring all the fun and education of the in-person Tech Conference to your device! Conference registration will open in March.

NEFLIN Members Making Connections
One of NEFLIN's most important goals is to help our members connect with each other. Two ways we work toward that goal are Interest Groups and the NEFLIN Expertise Database. We hope you'll take advantage of both this year!
As you make plans for a successful 2021, consider how being a part of a NEFLIN Interest Group can both enrich your professional skills and help you make connections with colleagues across Northeast Florida. These 11 groups are led by fellow NEFLIN members, meet four times a year, and offer something for everyone.
The NEFLIN Expertise Database (NED) is a collaborative resource where our members can share their own expertise and find help from others.

Congratulations to these
NEFLIN Members!
Congratulations to UCF and Seminole State College librarians Peggy Nuhn and Dr. Karen Kaufmann for the publication of their book, Supporting Transfer Student Success: The Essential Role of College and University Libraries.

From Morgan Tracy, Director of Seminole State College Libraries:

"Peggy and Karen have collaborated to write a truly timely and helpful book on ensuring the continuous development of critical information literacy competencies for students who transfer from a college to a university in pursuit of a bachelor's degree. Their work was actually borne out of the very positive experience that Peggy and Karen had at the NEFLIN Assessment Project a couple of years ago, and we are very grateful for NEFLIN's support of that fantastic initiative!"

Thank you, Morgan, Peggy, and Karen - we are very excited that a NEFLIN project played a part in this accomplishment!
Next Level Library Leadership Institute Launches
You've heard the phrase, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade," and we can probably all agree that life has given us some lemons this year. One of our lemons: not being able to hold this year's Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute due to Covid-19.

Thankfully, taking a year off of SSLLI has given us a new opportunity: the Next Level Library Leadership Institute, which launched on January 13th. This new program provides SSLLI graduates the chance to target specific areas of professional growth, consult with leadership experts through one-on-one coaching sessions, and collaborate with fellow library leaders. In other words, it's an opportunity to take your leadership skills to the next level.

Twenty participants from around Florida are part of our inaugural NLLLI cohort, and we are proud that 5 of those participants are NEFLIN members: Elanya Bairefoot of Brevard County Public Libraries, Kathleen Brunner of Jacksonville Public Library, Susan Mythen of Florida State College at Jacksonville, Kate Neff of St. Johns County Schools, and Laurie Taylor of the University of Florida. Congratulations to these library leaders - we're looking forward to following your journey!
