Librarian Olympians...Go On The Hunt
|
Just like all Olympians our 25 qualifiers have been enduring long days and nights of cardio and weightlifting in the hot Florida sun (at least that's what they have told us).
The upcoming Olympic Trials will be a test of their knowledge, endurance, and street smarts. NEFLIN has arranged for our
Olympians to participate in a Scavenger Hunt on July 26.
The Top 10 from this event move on to the Olympic Games.

NEFLIN Libraries Partner on Makerspace
|
What began as a casual conversation between library staff has led to the birth of a makerspace in Volusia County!
|
The Launch Pad is a new Makerspace at the Daytona Beach Regional Library. Conversations between Volusia County and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University staff revealed that each institution wanted to reach middle and senior high students with interests in science, technology, and engineering. |
Initial funding was provided by Embry-Riddle with ongoing support from The Friends of the Daytona Beach Library.

Spotlight on Rasmussen College
|
For more than 115 years, Rasmussen College has met the needs of its local communities by providing market-relevant and career-focused programs. The College currently offers programs at the certificate and diploma level through the associate's and bachelor's degree levels in seven schools of study including business, health sciences, nursing, education, justice studies, technology, and design. Students can earn their degree online or at one of the College's 23 Midwest or Florida campuses, including the main campus in Ocala and the new School of Nursing which is set to open in July.
With around 14,000 students across the country, the College is committed to making sure every student has equal access to the learning materials and resources they need to be successful. In 2015, Rasmussen College transitioned to a fully digital library which includes more than 200,000 eBooks, over 90 research databases and millions of full-text articles, videos and more, all of which can be accessed online 24/7.
Along with 24/7 access to the College's digital library collection, students also have access to tutors. The Rasmussen College Library and Learning Services' student tutor training and mentorships programs have both received certification by the
College Reading and Learning Association
(CRLA) for their online training courses, self-produced tutor training webinars as well as an online platform for connecting tutors and mentors with students across locations and to the resources they need.
