23 Mobile Things @ NEFLIN
|
 The
23 Mobile Things @ NEFLIN program will officially close on June 30th. We hope others will take this program on and make it their own. We recently presented at the Florida Library Association's annual conference, and NEFLIN's own Technology Conference on June 12th.
Heading to ALA later this month? Catch up with us here: 23 Mobile Things will be featured in the Learning Roundtable Training Showcase at Annual in San Francisco on Saturday June 27th from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, and our poster Exploring Mobile Apps for Library Services will be presented during the ALA Poster Sessions on Sunday, June 28th from 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm. We will offer a description of the program, feedback from NEFLIN members, participation statistics, frank discussion about the program, along with suggestions for adapting and replicating 23 Mobile Things. Sample materials, images, and content created by 23 Mobile Things participants will be highlighted.

NEFLIN is proud to partner with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to offer a unique training opportunity of interest to staff in academic, public, school, and special libraries alike.
The CFPB's goal is to empower consumers to live better financial lives. By providing this training for library staff, their aim is to raise the effectiveness libraries in providing financial education services to increase financial literacy in their communities.
NEFLIN members will be provided with the information needed to encourage the development of effective financial skills and habits at their libraries.

Member Spotlight: Bradford Public Library
|
Located in Starke, which is situated between Gainesville and Jacksonville in Northeast Florida, the Library moved to its current location in October of 2007. This location allowed the Library to begin to increase the number of programs that it provided to the residents of Bradford County.
The current Library facility has a children's area which includes a story time room, office space and storage and
eight public access computers for children, a teen area with a large selection of fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels and manga as well as eight teen computers. The main part of the Library contains the adult Fiction, Non-Fiction, Genealogy, Biography, Reference, Audio Books and DVD collection as well as ten public access computers for adults as well as a fifteen minute e-mail station. The Library also has a large meeting room and a small conference room, both of which are available for use by education and non-profit groups in the community at no cost.
The Library also serves the Santa Fe College campus that is located in Starke as its Library. We provide study rooms to SFC Students and to the citizens of Bradford and a computer lab, with eighteen computers, which is available to SFC for classes. Library staff use the computer lab to teach computer classes to the public. The Library is also a member of the
New River Public Library Cooperative, which includes the counties of Baker, Bradford and Union.
The Library offers a wide variety of services, programs, and events to the citizens of Bradford County including tax preparation, voter registration and e-books. The Library also provides a wide variety of programs and events for children, teens, tweens and adults which include author visits, book clubs, story time, craft programs, book bingo, video gaming events, and summer reading programming and events. The library truly is a one stop shopping center or an "edutainment complex". Please visit www.bcplibrary.com for more information.
