Library MakerFest has come and gone. Many thanks to all who came out, whether they were exhibitors or attendees.
Volusia County Public Library staff turned out in droves to help us run the event. The
Daytona Beach Regional Library was a great venue! We're grateful for those who volunteered to help with registration, directions, and all the other tasks that made the day run so smoothly.
We're sad to pass the event along to our friends at SEFLIN for the next few years, but we're sure they'll do magical things with it!

SSLLI Mentors Needed
|

Marion County's Cynthia Plesner with her SSLLI mentor, Elizabeth Curry

Did you know that you don't have to be a
Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute participant in order to be involved with the program? You might be just the
mentor someone is looking for.
Developing a formal mentor/mentee partnership is an integral part of each SSLLI participant's experience. Upon acceptance, each participant begins searching for a mentor to meet with them on a monthly basis, guiding them and supporting them on their leadership journey.
Potential mentors might be:
- a past or current director, assistant director, branch manager or comparable position within an organization, agency or business for five or more years.
- a past or current member of a local, state, or national board, task force, or committee.
- an individual with experience working with city or county commissioners; state legislators; university deans, provosts, or presidents; or other high level decision makers.
If you are interested in being a part of the SSLLI Mentor Pool, take a few minutes to
find out more and submit the
Mentor Interest Form. Beginning in late July, newly accepted participants will have access to this list of potential mentors and will begin contacting those who they think would be a good match for their goals.

Congratulations, Christine!
|
Congratulations go out to Florida Gateway College Library Director, Christine Boatright!
Christine has been selected to Chair the State Library Council beginning in July.
The purpose of this council is to advise and assist the State Library with planning, policy, and priorities related to the development of statewide information services. One of their most important duties is to review and recommend funding for Florida's LSTA grant program. Alongside Christine will be another NEFLIN member, Jessica Collogan, from Jacksonville University who also serves on the council.
