New C.E. Committee Members
|
NEFLIN's Continuing Education Committee helps to provide a diverse training program that reflects your needs. Three of our newest members come from NEFLIN libraries that we have not had representation from previously.
Their
commitment
will help us to learn more about their organizations and identify the needs of all members. Our CE Committee works in an advisory capacity to generate ideas and provide feedback for our training program.

2017 Interest Groups & Facilitator Training
|
You may have heard that we are taking NEFLIN's Interest Groups in a new direction! NOW is the time to get involved.
We are adding two new groups, and with 10 dynamic topics, there will be something for everyone in 2017!
All we need now are volunteers to make sure our Interest Groups succeed!
Facilitation is an interesting, rewarding and important role - we'll train you on the
basic skills needed to follow good meeting practices: timekeeping, following an agenda, and keeping a clear record - skills you can use in any situation.
Get the
training - and then use your new skills as a facilitator.
Facilitators will be asked to schedule 4 meetings (one per quarter) and facilitate 4 meetings. That's it!
Mandatory training for all NEFLIN members interested in facilitating a 2017 Interest Group.
In this one-hour session, we'll talk about the best way to plan for an online meeting, how to set expectations before the meeting, and how to encourage discussion during the meeting.

Spotlight on Trinity Baptist College
|
Trinity Baptist College - Travis Hudson Library
The Travis Hudson Library opened its doors in 1974 upon the establishment of Trinity Baptist College. The library resided on McDuff Avenue from the time of its establishment in 1974 until it moved with Trinity Baptist College to the campus of Trinity Christian Academy, located on Hammond Boulevard, in 1998. Originally developed to support a bible college, the collection in the Travis Hudson Library was largely theological in nature. Through the collection development efforts of successive librarians and the expansion of educational program offerings, the collection now supports both undergraduate and graduate studies in Theology, Education, Business, and Counseling, for a student body of just over 300 students.
The physical collection consists of 40,000 volumes, 500 DVDs, and 200 CDs. The facility has a main room wherein the collection is housed; a music lab, three faculty offices and two large classrooms that may be reserved by instructors for academic purposes. The library also provides electronic resources for student research through the Library Information Resources Network, which includes multiple databases containing information about science, mathematics, history, business, counseling, education, law, and eBooks, to name a few. The library is currently developing the learning commons model by providing tutoring services in mathematics and English; services which will be expanded to include History and science in the near future.
The Library Director is Dr. John Lucy, who is ably assisted by Library Assistant Mrs. Janice Claxton. The library staff also includes four student employees.
