NEFLIN Celebrates 25 Years !!!
First off,
Happy Anniversary to NEFLIN! We are celebrating our 25th year of providing service to northeast Florida libraries.
NEFLIN Annual Meeting Recap
We had record attendance this year at the Annual Meeting. 168 members joined us from our the region!
Past, present, and future segments highlighted the morning. We had presentations from the NEFLIN staff, a walk down memory lane with guest speakers, Amy Johnson and Dave Whisenant, and what's coming up in 2019 (see below).
There was a concern that the day would have "too much Brad"

The silent auction at the Annual Meeting raised
$2,042 for the Jim Morris Fund. This fund provides travel assistance to professional development events and conferences.
Thanks to all members who donated baskets and to Christine Boatright, JoAnn Bailey, and Katrina Evans for helping with the auction.
Coming in 2019
One exciting part of the Annual Meeting is when we get to announce the new projects NEFLIN will launch in the upcoming year. This year, we introduced the Virtual Reality Project, the NEFLIN Expertise Database, and a new round of Innovation Projects. Be watching your email for information about how to get involved with any or all of these projects!
The Virtual Reality Project

Trainer Mickey Boyd will be traveling throughout the NEFLIN region to provide a daylong VR workshop for your staff, followed by a daylong event for your patrons. You'll have the use of Virtual Reality technology and equipment provided by NEFLIN so that your staff, and your patrons can experience this immersive technology firsthand.
The NEFLIN Expertise Database (NED)
This searchable database will serve as a clearinghouse for knowledge, experience, and specialties that NEFLIN members can offer. It will be a resource that you can both contribute to and benefit from.
Once again, NEFLIN members will have the opportunity to apply for up to $10,000 for an innovative project or service you would like to undertake.
Remember that innovation doesn't have to include technology, and that we are looking for projects that are innovative for YOUR library, which can differ greatly based on sizes and types of member libraries.
Interest Group Update
We have enjoyed many successful Interest Group meetings this year.
If you've been a part of an Interest Group, be sure to thank your facilitator! These NEFLIN members volunteer their time to plan, schedule, and facilitate four meetings a year, and their hard work is what makes these interactive groups possible.
There's a group for everyone, so for 2019, choose one and participate as much as you can. Core members help the groups grow and remain a valuable resource for participants. To be sure you are on the email list for the group(s) you are most interested in, click here.
Summer Reading Roundup 2018-19
It may be a tad early to think about your personal plans for Summer 2019, but it's coming up on Planning Season for Summer Reading programs. We have several events and workshops happening from October through January all around the region.
JPL Youth Performers Showcase
Once again Jacksonville Public Library and NEFLIN are bringing talented performers and edutainers together for a day-long showcase of their talents. Over twenty singers, magicians, jugglers, clowns and other assorted acts will show their skills for you. It will be at JPL's West Branch, Thursday, October 4.
