Dear Brad,

It's February, and we can't let the month pass without saying it...NEFLIN Loves Libraries! It's our goal to help you feel supported in the important work you do.

This month, we have two opportunities for you to help us support you better: the 2025 NEFLIN Annual Survey (more information below) and a virtual Strategic Planning Focus Group. We hope you'll take advantage of one (or both!) of these opportunities.

Take the 2025 NEFLIN Annual Survey

Each year, we ask for your feedback in the NEFLIN Annual Survey. The information we gather from the survey results helps us serve you better.

We'd love to hear from YOU in this year's survey!

Just 10-15 minutes of your time will help us plan future programs and services.

Take the Survey Now

As an added incentive, we'll also enter everyone who takes the survey into a drawing for one of five $25 Amazon.com gift cards.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Florida Tech's Evans Library Celebrates 40 Years

Congratulations to NEFLIN member Florida Tech as they celebrate 40 years of serving their community from the beautiful Evans Library!

Evans Library opened its door to students in 1984 with four floors and 68,000 square feet after having outgrown two former libraries on campus.

January 1985:

President Jerry Keuper at the Evans Library ribbon-cutting ceremony

Features of the new Evans Library included a micro-computer center, 38 printers, and a 500-seat auditorium. Today, the library houses a Digital Scholarship Lab, a CraftLab, the University Archives, modern and flexible study spaces, anti-gravity and massage chairs, a quiet floor for independent study, and a Technology Lending Service where students can borrow items such as laptops, iPads, VR headsets, hammocks, cameras, and more.

Founded in 1958, the same year NASA was founded, Florida Tech was born to support the missilemen working on the budding U.S. space program. Originally a graduate school, Florida Tech has grown into a premier research university known for its space sciences, aeronautics and engineering focus featuring cutting-edge technology, a Senior Design showcase and its high post-graduation employability rate.

The Library has planned several events in Academic Year 2024/25 to celebrate its anniversary, including an "Event Horizon: The Next 40 Years of Space and Beyond" contest, which invites students to submit entries in any medium or method that represents what they think will happen in the next 40 years of space exploration.

Congratulations to Dean Jason Martin and all the Evans Library staff! We appreciate your unique contributions to Florida libraries and we are proud to call you NEFLIN members.
