This keynote presentation will explore the role of libraries in community health and wellness.

We'll also have four tracks of breakout sessions:

  • Mental Health
  • Healthy @ Work
  • Physical Health
  • Health Infrastructure

Each track will present three 60-minute breakout sessions. Attendees may follow one track exclusively or choose among the topics. All sessions will also be recorded for later viewing.

Florida Libraries Online is brought to you by the following multitype library cooperatives:

·   Northeast Florida Library Information Network (NEFLIN)
·   Panhandle Library Access Network (PLAN)
·   Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN)
·   Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC)
Call for Proposals:
2022 Hot Topics Conference
NEFLIN invites you to submit a proposal for the 2022 NEFLIN Hot Topics Conference!

This year's theme is Fun & Games.

We're talking about the ways that libraries have integrated games and gamification into programs and services. We know from seeing presentations and proposals from past conferences that there is a wealth of efforts among our members and extended family. This is our first in-person event in a few years (naturally). What better way to bring everyone back together than a day of sharing part of what makes libraries a great place to work?

The 2022 NEFLIN Hot Topics Conference will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort in St. Augustine, FL.

The deadline for submitting a proposal is 5:00 PM on February 7, 2022. If your proposal is chosen you will be notified by February 22, 2022. We will send acceptance and regret notifications via email.

Questions? Contact Raymond Neal at raymond@neflin.org or (904) 278-5620.

Featured Webinar:
The Library Brand and Library Branding

Brand and branding are closely related but interchangable. How do we understand our library's brand, and how do we influence it? What really matters to our audiences? This workshop lays out a practical approach to brand and branding.

We'll explore gaining insight into how you're perceived by your audiences, and planning for what you'd like your library's brand to be. We'll look at the way in which brand should influence marketing (and vice versa) and to communicate successfully with all kinds of different stakeholders. We'll look at key rules for marketing well, to develop your brand and branding successfully.
Virtual Trainer: Ned Potter
Ned Potter is an Academic Liaison Librarian at the University of York, and a Trainer for various organisations including the Bodleian, the NHS and the British Library in the UK, PiCS in Australasia, and of course NEFLIN in the US.

2022 Management Training Institute Kicks Off
NEFLIN's Management Training Institute (MTI) provides the skills and tools librarians need to successfully step into management roles in their institutions. This year's Institute, the third that NEFLIN has hosted, launched on January 13th and will continue through August.

Led by Michael Clark of MRC Consulting, the MTI consists of eight full-day sessions on topics such as Creating a Culture of Employee Engagement, Dealing Effectively with Employee Performance Issues, How to Build a Team Environment, and How to Transition into a Lean Environment.
This year's cohort is made up of 18 participants from 10 different NEFLIN member libraries, so the positive impacts of the program will be felt all across the NEFLIN region. Congratulations, MTI participants- we hope you enjoy this journey!
Providing Library Services to Veterans
One of our more unique member libraries is the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System library under the direction of Lisa Huang. The library's mission is "to provide knowledge-based information for clinical and management decision-making, research, and education to enhance the quality of care for Veterans enrolled in the NF/SG Veterans Health System." With locations in Gainesville and Lake City, the library serves the largest VA health care system in the Country, covering 50 counties in Florida and Georgia.
VA Library Director Lisa Huang
While the VA library serves as a research resource for medical personnel, it also provides support for veterans who face a wide variety of health and lifestyle challenges. Whether it be helping veterans complete online forms for benefits, providing popular fiction for leisure reading, or connecting veterans with mental health resources, the VA Library is filling a critical role in the lives of our heroes.

The VA also offers resources that might be of help to YOUR patrons. Watch Lisa Huang's Lightning Round session at this year's Annual Meeting or view the session slides to find out about the VA's Mobile Apps for veterans and their caregivers.
These training opportunities have been funded in part under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Florida Department of State, Division
of Library and Information Services.
For FY2021-22, the total state and federal budgets for NEFLIN's programs are $676,872. 41% of the total costs ($276,872) are supported by federal funds, and 59% of this program ($400,000) is supported by state funds.
