Last month, nearly 150 of you attended the NEFLIN Annual Meeting and helped us celebrate 30 years of NEFLIN! For those who were there, we hope you enjoyed hearing about what NEFLIN did in 2023 and what we will be doing in 2024.

The day kicked off with a keynote session from Peter Bromberg and continued with staff reports and breakout sessions from your fellow NEFLIN members.

Through the Jim Morris Continuing Education Fund, NEFLIN members are eligible to apply for financial support for conferences, training, and other professional development opportunities, whether in-person or virtual.
We are currently accepting applications for any opportunities happening in 2024. Apply by December 31st for consideration.

Here we go again! Ready for a day of presenters and performers looking to inform, entertain and educate your youngest patrons? It's time for the annual Youth Performers Showcase! Once again coming to you from the Headquarters Library in Gainesville, we are happy to bring you some of the finest talent in our area.
If you've never been, think of it as Summer Reading Idol or the Library Voice (or should that be the Shush?). Singers, magicians, storytellers, and all kinds of acts will have a few minutes to show you what they can do. It's an all-day event for Youth Services staff, but you don't have to come for the whole thing - you can attend as you are able.

Participants will learn useful tips and techniques for working with young adults. We will review adolescent developmental needs and life experiences. We will discuss best practices for interacting with teens and how librarians can support the 40 developmental assets. We will explore what's trending in teen publishing, collection development, and readers advisory strategies as well as advocacy for teens. The deadline to register is Friday, October 20th. | |

Meet the Trainers: Artistic Literacy, Inc.

Elizabeth McConney has been providing art programming at libraries and schools in northeast Florida since 2005. With a B.A. in Visual Arts from New College of Florida, Elizabeth is a studio artist who works by commission. She is currently a Literacy Content Specialist for the Lastinger Center at the University of Florida College of Education.
Amber Holley has worked with Jacksonville Public Library since 2004 in several libraries both large and small, urban and suburban. She has worked as a teen librarian, children’s librarian, and a branch manager. She is currently the Manager of Learning Services. Amber has been presenting training to other librarians since 2007. She has a B.A. from New College of Florida, a M.L.I.S. from University of South Florida, and is a graduate of the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute

We are so thankful for our members who serve on the NEFLIN Board - and we are always sorry to see them go! The Board helps us make the plans and decisions that will best serve the NEFLIN membership, and we couldn't do what we do without their leadership and advocacy.

They have not only been Board members, but also officers (secretary, president, and treasurer, respectively).
