Dear Brad,

A new year at NEFLIN (which starts in October!) is marked by changes to our Board of Directors as some members rotate on or off and others take on new roles on the Board.

This year, we're pleased to announce that Joe Saloom of the Flagler County Public Library System will be our 2024-2025 Board president.

We're also welcoming a new member to the NEFLIN Board, Mary Canfield! Mary is the Library Director of the Clay County Public Library System, and we're excited to have her join us.

We want to thank all of the NEFLIN Board for their service, and we look forward to a great year ahead!

Attention, library marketers!

This quarter, we're excited to bring you two marketing webinars from

a new NEFLIN trainer, Chris Boivin!

Marketing the Modern Library

Wed., Oct. 30th

10:00 - 11:00 am

Online

If low marketing budgets and scattered attention of current and potential library patrons are getting you frustrated, learn how you can use the power of story to boost your library’s reach.

In this webinar, we'll discuss three significant threats you face as a library marketer or library marketing enthusiast: online information, a noisy marketplace, and budget constraints.

You'll walk away with practical strategies you can use—and teach to your library's entire staff—to strengthen relationships with patrons, build confidence and credibility, and grow your library by harnessing the least expensive yet most powerful marketing channel there is: word of mouth marketing.

Simple Strategies for Effective Library Marketing

Wed., Dec. 4, 2024

2:00 - 3:00 pm

Online

Meet the Trainer:

Chris Boivin

Chris Boivin has been using marketing and communications to help people and brands get the right message to the right people for 30 years. During the last nine years, he led marketing at Jacksonville Public Library, Florida's largest library system with 21 locations and more than 650,000 cardholders, serving also as the NEFLIN Marketing Interest Group lead for two years. Boivin co-founded the Jacksonville, Florida, chapter of the American Marketing Association, served on the board of the Library Marketing Conference Group, is a judge for EBSCO's John Cotton Dana Awards, and founded the Library Marketing Book Club — which currently has more than 1,000 members. He taught marketing as an adjunct professor at Florida State College at Jacksonville, and speaks at library marketing events across the U.S. and Canada.

Marketing libraries can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be. Don't be intimidated feeling like you need to chase all the latest marketing or social media trends. Don't spin your wheels trying to learn all the hot marketing buzzwords. From any seat in the library, you can harness the power of marketing using time-tested strategies to help your patrons solve their problems and become lifelong library advocates.

In this webinar, we'll walk through the strategies today's leading marketing authors and thought leaders use to help businesses grow and thrive, including:

  • The power of story (36,000 years of storytelling must mean something)
  • Email marketing (with 4.7 billion email users projected in 2026, email is not going anywhere)
  • Direct mail (39% of customers say they try a business for the first time because of something they receive in the physical mail)
  • Blogging (companies that blog get 55% more website visitors than businesses that don't)

You'll walk away with strategies you can use immediately to connect with your patrons and grow your library, including a "one-liner" for your library or a key product or service you offer that cuts through the noise and clarifies your message.
