The Northeast Indiana Local Food Network Conference, titled "Nourishing Our Community with Our Local Food System," aimed to strengthen connections within the local food community. It brought together many of St. Joe Foundation's grantees and community partners. Join us for the next Prenatal & Infant Care Network Luncheon on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the Allen County Public Library, Main Library Rooms A, B, C. This quarter's focus is on connecting pregnant women and their infants with affordable food and nutrition. Featured speakers include Britte Nihart, Registered Nurse, Women’s & Children’s Nurse Navigation, Parkview Health, and Allen County FIMR Coordinator, who will give an update from the Allen County Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR), Dr. Lora Overton, DO, Professor, Ivy Tech Community College, who will discuss the importance of quality nutrition for mothers and infants, and Jackie Schenkel, Nutrition Coordinator, Neighborhood Health, who will cover WIC benefits and lactation support, along with additional community resources. In October, the St. Joe Foundation was honored to host two Catholic Sisters for a tour of various Fort Wayne sites where the Sisters of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ have a rich history of service and ministry. This visit was not only a celebration of their legacy but also a chance to reconnect with the sites that hold deep significance in their mission and the mission of the St. Joe Foundation.
