Sociologist Daniel Regan, the former dean of academic affairs at Northern Vermont University-Johnson, explains why there’s good reason to think through how we apply the term and, especially, to whom.
Public school counselors across the U.S. were responsible for an average of 455 students each in the 2016-17 school year—well over the nationally recommended student-to-counselor ratio of 250:1.
