Attention all Music Educators ! “Call for Virtual Lesson Plans”
The Lowell Mason House is excited to announce the winners of our "Virtual Lesson Plans" competition for music educators that recognizes excellence in teaching music in a virtual, online environment: ELEMENTARY - Andrew Geocari, Rocky Mount Elementary School, Marietta, GA MIDDLE - Morgan LaFave, Memorial Middle School, Conyers, GA SECONDARY/HIGHER EDUCATION - Dr. Kathleen Melago, Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, PA. The award winners were announced on January 8, 2021, on Lowell Mason's 229th birthday. Lowell Mason, who believed that it was important for every child to be taught music in order for them to reap the therapeutic health and wellness benefits of the power of music, would want to make sure that any instruction of music at all, no matter through what medium, should be of high quality and substance. Teaching music through the computer is just another vehicle for delivering quality music education. Three prizes of $2,000.00 each were awarded through the generosity of a donor.
With the exterior of the house now mostly completed, the focus now is on the restoration and renovation of the interior of the Lowell Mason House. We are now ready to install utilities in the building. The Lowell Mason House has raised over $400,000.00 up to this date to complete the restoration of the house, to turn it into a study museum and a meeting place. We are grateful to the 15 music educators associations around the United States that have made contributions towards its restoration, including the New England Music Festival Association. Your continued interest and support in this project is very much appreciated.
