3rd grade student, Claire Fracassa was Principal For A Day on Thursday, June 21st and NES ran smoother than ever! She won this at the Beach Blanket Bidding Auction! With Principal Claire at the helm, the 4th grade parents were welcomed into the Talent Show smoothly and efficiently and the program ran off without a hitch! Principal Claire quickly learned that the calls keep coming in as she hustled and bustled between the office and the classrooms. At the end of the day, she had the special honor of picking ALL the Caught-Ya's for the week!! Thank you Principal Claire for an amazing day! NES
On Thursday, June 14th, a wonderful Flag Day Parade took place. Our Principal provided students with a red, white or blue items to have while marching in the parade. With the help of the Narragansett Police Department, students and teachers walked safely up the hill and along Narragansett Avenue with family and friends lining the street to cheer them on! They then went back to the school for an assembly, honoring local veterans, and filled with patriotic songs and history. Thanks to all who came out for this fun and patriotic day and to the 4th grade teachers for organizing!
Sunday, June 24th -all are welcome!
4th Grade Remembrance:
Each 4th Grader was given 5 tickets for the ceremony due to fire codes. A light buffet with begin at 10:30am in the Cafeteria and the Ceremony will begin at 11:00am in the Gym.

If parents of the lower grades could help out with treats that would be so wonderful for the 4th graders!
June, 2018

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Please plan to retrieve your child’s medication by the last day of school June 26, 2018 or make arrangements for another adult to do so. According to the Narragansett School Department’s medication policy any medication not picked up by the last day of school will be destroyed.

Below there is a link for the Narragansett School Department’s Physician Authorization for Medication Administration at School form. If your child is to continue to require medication for the next school year, please print the form and have your doctor complete and kindly return it to me on the first day of school. A new authorization form is required for every school year.

When sending in medications for your child please be aware of the expiration dates. All medications need to be current and not expire within the school year.

Please remember to deliver the medication in the original container for the first day of school.

Your assistance in this most important aspect of your child’s health care will avoid any interruption in your child’s treatment plan.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Yours in health,

Summer Educational Links on NES Page
A reminder that we have a Summer link for Reading and Math right on our NES Homepage. These links provide a great opportunity to keep your child's skills going over the summer (especially on those rainy days)! Visit our NES Homepage at and go to Summer Learning (left hand side in a blue box). Your child should know their passwords already for these sites. Happy learning!

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful first year at NES. It has been so great to get to know your children and teach them music. If there any students interested in flute or piano lessons this summer, there are two students (one current and one recent graduate) that would be great fit. Their information is below.

For all current 3rd grade families - Next year your student will be able to join band! We have been talking about their instrument choices in depth during class. More information will be going home before the end of school, if it hasn't already. Please save the date for instrument rental night - September 5 and September 11, you will only need to attend one of them. If you already have an instrument you will not need to attend the instrument rental night. Please know that if renting an instrument is financially tough, we have a few school instruments we are able to let students borrow.

Information on Rhode Island Summer Meals

As the end of the school year approaches, Rhode Island Department of Education, (RIDE,) is gearing up for their Summer Meals Program and they need our help!

During the school year, nearly 76,000 Rhode Island students receive meals daily through the National School Lunch Program. In the summer months, those students and many more are at risk of going hungry. RIDE served more than 467,000 meals last summer and is hoping to surpass that number of students receiving access to healthy meals.

If you or someone you know may be able to benefit from this program, please call 211* to learn more.

Thank you for helping us build "Healthy Kids, Healthy, Healthy communities for a Healthy Rhode Island."
