Features of Effective Math Instruction

Educators from Devils Lake, Mt. Pleasant-Rolla, Maddock, Midkota, and Minnewaukan School Districts engaged in the NESC's Features of Effective Math Instruction workshop October 28th and 29th. This workshop provided participants with an in-depth exploration of explicit systematic instruction and an opportunity for Math curriculum analysis.

An additional Math professional learning opportunity is available to NESC educators in November. Three webinars will be facilitated by Dr. Nathan Lang-Raad (November 12, 13, and 14) as part of the Driving Math Success series. See below for registration details!

Celebrations!

Ron Clark Book Study

The NESC Community of Practice has embraced learning, collaboration, and leadership through the Ron Clark Book Study! Following the book, The Excellent 11, our participating schools' leadership teams (nearly 100 member educators strong!) meet monthly to apply their reading through sharing of ideas and planning for application within their schools. These energized and forward-thinking individuals are helping enhance school culture and maintain our "1% Better" focus!

Lights on Afterschool

During October, more than 8,000 afterschool programs and one million supporters nationwide celebrated the 25th annual Lights On Afterschool event. The NESC 21st Century Community Learning Centers acknowledged the occasion with many sites hosting Lights On Afterschool student art displays and utilizing activity kits provided to each site by the Afterschool Alliance.
