NEBRASKA SOCIETY OF CPAs
NEWS UPDATE
Your Society has been in contact with Governor Pete Ricketts' office, as well as the Nebraska Department of Revenue, urging the State of Nebraska to extend by 90 days both the tax filing and tax payment due dates, along with a waiver of any related penalties and interest during that time.

The response from the Governor's office on Saturday, March 21, is that they are "currently working through this issue and should have an announcement early [this] week ."

We have heard from many of you and are well aware of the extremely high level of stress within the tax preparation community today. Until a decision is made in regard to the State of Nebraska's tax filing and payment deadlines, we will continue to share our concerns with elected officials at the state and national level.

Your Society understands that how the state responds to this matter will make a huge difference in how you handle your clients' needs! We will provide additional information from the State of Nebraska as soon as it's released.

Sincerely,

Joni Sundquist
President
Nebraska Society of CPAs
