“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”

-Vincent Van Gogh

As another school year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for all that you do. Your days are often filled with putting out fires, navigating economic uncertainty, managing staffing shortages, and responding to legislative mandates. In recent years, the political and socioeconomic climate has made your work even more challenging, and social media has added another layer of unpredictability to your already demanding responsibilities.

And yet, through all of these challenges, you continue to show up each day with dedication and care. You open your schools in July and close them in June, always keeping the needs of students, staff, and community members at the center of your work. You create safe places for students to learn, manage budgets to support strong academic programs and healthy meals, listen to parents and staff when they need to be heard, and remain a visible and active presence in your communities. Most of your days begin before 7:00 a.m. and stretch well into the evening. Even on weekends, holidays, and vacations, you are still finding time to check in and make sure everything is okay.

What often goes unseen is how much your work makes possible. Because of your leadership and care, all the "little things" that mean so much to students, families, and staff can happen—graduation events, moving-on ceremonies, school plays and concerts, field days, sporting events, and academic awards ceremonies, just to name a few. You keep your buildings running, your staff supported, and your schools moving forward. In doing so, you create the conditions for the everyday interactions between students and teachers that shape lifelong learning and build meaningful relationships. Many of the moments you make possible may never be fully recognized, but they matter profoundly, and they leave a lasting impact.

So once again, thank you for the work you do, for the care you give, and for the difference you make every single day. It is deeply appreciated.

On behalf of the NESDEC team we wish you the best for a meaningful end to the school year and a fulfilling and relaxing summer.

Dave
